Glue or gunk BEHIND guages

Hopefully someone can assist with this:

I was driving home from work the other night and noticed what appeared to be some kind of grease spots on the tach. I grabbed a cloth and started to wipe off what was there....then I noticed that whatever it was is on the BACK of the plastic. So I have what looks like a clear grease all over the inside of the tachometer that I cannot clean off and it is really bothering me.

Can the plastic be removed and cleaned??
Is this worth having the dealer look at??
Do I chance damage to the car with the service techs??

Don't know if this is the same problem. TBone2004 reported dirt behind his gauges.

I was able to remove most of mine as it was on outside as well, but in certain light I see it in the inside, but I decided it was not worth it to have delaer tear it all up and risk rattle introduction or stuff not working right again....if it was blocking view at night or blurring numbers etc. I would have but that is not the case.

Yeah. It's on the outside. It's sort of like the film that accumulates on your windshield over time. Be careful when you clean it because you can easily scratch the anti-glare plastic. I would lightly wipe it down with a "clean" damp microfiber cloth and then immediately drying it off with another clean cloth to avoid spotting. Be sure to wring out the cloth before wiping so no water gets inside. Good luck.
