Ghetto-ass vanity light mod but WORKS!

the vanity mirror light housing lacks the reflective chrome panel that the dome lights have. so what do u do to get a better light output? bust out the aluminum foil!

out line and cut

tape and done

ghetto ass felahee mod! but it works good. Wish i took before and after shot if the light but i guess it would hard to see a difference in a picture. Also, it is a much tighter fit and fixed the sag issue i had since i bent the tab pulling the lenses out

Can you tell me how you got these off? I threw the kitchen sink at these covers, but couldn't remove it and ended up bending one of the metal housings instead... This is the last thing I need to replace in my LED conversion!

these are held in by a little tab AND some strong-as-shit-glue. just gotta get a flat head screwdriver and pry off what you can, and then release the fabric/light from the glue.

they'll come off...just gotta work at it.

This would be a great DIY if you could actually get the lights out.

There is thin layer of metal there and this plastic sits on it. So with a thin flat screw drive, you have to get in to between them...
I have pictures but let me upload em...

And OP, are your LED's facing upward
because I tried this on the trunk with all around LEDS... didn't see much difference.

Edit:

Pictures...

That metal frame is glued but you don't touch it...
And by clicking that plastic gray thing I don't know what's it called, you could take out the housing. This is just like the trunk

You see where the LED is facing, there is a plastic extension... you just push that in with a screw drive...boom that's it

This is my trunk's old LED... this kind of bulb might work better. Allaround one...360

You are not suppose to remove that metal thing... the one that is glued

no my LED bulb is not upside down! lol well i actually first did this because the light looked funny. it was a dot of light on a big lens. The foil was supposed to make the whole lens look like it was lit up. afterwards i realized the light output was better. i can see more of myself in the mirror. To top it off, the tighter fit it fixed the sag from bending the shit out of them taking them out. I also want to mention that i super glued the tab on the lens to fix that too.

Why don't you guys buy these for 5$
I tried LED's on the trunk before...lot's of em

After connecting it, throw the housing to inside the trunk and stick the the board there. Done

If you guys want to go the LED board route for anything (interior, trunk) I highly suggest buying from snb331 on Ebay.
Pure bright white, no hint of blue! (Lots of ebayers say their LED is "white" but they end up being like 6k white)

My interior LED setup is from them!

12 LED:

15 LED:

Nice, so that is the ebay one? I'm guessing the cover no longer fits with this on?

The cover fits, you just mount the LED board onto the cover.

My LED boards come with multiple adaptors including T10 (the one the TL uses a lot)
