Getting set to perform my 3x3...

Alright fellas I brought my 252 piece ratchet set today, long funnel, and oil catch pan/deep bucket, the only other thing I think I need is a 10in extension. Monday Im going to be doing my 3x3 transmission flush.
If im correct I'll need to go to acura to get a new washer(s) for the magnetic plug correct?
Also Ive done my searches and I think Im leaning towards Redline Racing over the Z1 from what ive read the redline will be pretty firm and firm up the tranny, and that the Z1 is pretty much recommended by honda but is a crappy fluid.
This will be my first time doing this but I think I'll be ok. Just venting to the brotherhood... Wish me luck

New washer is not really necessary unless the old is of no use. Be sure to pull the fill bolt first just in case you drain the fluid and have trouble getting it loose after. Personally, I mixed the Redline d4 with the Redline Racing fluid to introduce the new fluid. You shouldbe fine with the Racing though. Have you changed your 3rd and 4th gear pressure sensors?

Take off the drain plug first otherwise if you can't get it off after draining the fluid, your SCREWED!

Check out acura's DW1 Fluid, it's supposed to be better than Z1. I have it in my new transmission in my 04 and it shifts great!

Also if you are concered about a warranty Redline D4 is a great alternative!

Thanks guys...
I have not changed the 3rd and 4th gear pressure switches. Should these be done at the same time as the flush? I dont mind doing the 3x3 and going back within the next week or so to see how the car reacts to the new fluid and then changing the pressure switches.

It's better that you do switches and fluid at separate times so you can see how your transmission is reacting to one variable at a time. Also, I would slowly introduce the new fluid into your trans instead of doing a 3x3 in one day.

Good luck

Things to watch out for, fill bolt and drain bolt tight as hell, you need a breaker bar with gorilla arms.

Be careful not to drop your fill bolt or fill bolt washer when you reach in to get it.

Here's a video I made, it is pretty detailed

Agree, separate each flush with about a week or so of driving.

I think it's better to do the fluid 1 3 quart session at a time and drive around for a while to make sure that the trans isn't to far gone if you have a high amount of miles or have never changed it while being past 65ish thousand miles.

After you do the first one then you should try the pressure switches and make sure that the car is nice and happy before you do the rest of the changes.

I hope the tranny isnt too far gone man I have 88k on the odo. Not sure when the last time it was flushed Ive had the car for roughly 3 1/2 months, well we will know on monday...
Im probably gonna use acuras recommended ATF seeing as though Id have to order the redline.

Has anyone tried Castrol Import Multi-vehicle ATF? It says it's specifically for Honda/Acura ATF-Z1 except CVTs. Should I return it and get what everybody on here uses?
