General Questions

Hey, Im new here and I've got some questions to ask

Im 18, and I love the TL's design and was into getting a TL(05/06)

I was woundering, Do you think this car is too "old" for me? because it's aimed for 30+ people(or so)??

Because I was also looking at a TSX or a BMW 325ci, What do you guys think?

My first choice was going to be the RSX-S but where I live Insurance is about $4000+ per year, and that's way too much for just insurance

Should I get this car now? Or should I just get <insert car name here> and get TL when im about mid/late 20's?

Thanks

If your in the market for an RSX stay away from the TL... I don't know how much insurance varies between that and the TL which costs close to 10K more, you would likely reach that 25 Y.O insurance drop before the prices met up with eachother.

Anyway, I am 16 and drive my fathers TL a lot of the time, it is an excelent car, it is fast, handles well, and is much "nicer" than an RSX IMO. If its between the TL and a Bimmer, the 325 is going to be quite a bit slower, and definatly not as nice, but it has that BMW name.

I would agree TOTALLYLLLYYLLYYY with crazymjb, I had the chance to get a BMW..... and I checked em out and didnt think it was near what the TL is, your paying 40% for the name "BMW..." and I had the chance to get the g35, now that car is nice but its rear wheel drive and I cannot drive well in the wintertime with a rear wheel drive car + i go to school thats an hour away and its all highways and I dont trust rearwheel drive in the snow. It alls depends on where you live a little bit also.... but the Acura TL was what I ended up picking and its been an awesome automobile. I would go with the 07 TL if you can when it comes out, take your time. Also who is paying for your vehcile, do you have a job thats paying for it or ur parents?

the Tl isn't menat for ppl over 30(well sort of) some members here range from 16 (crazymjb) to about 55 years old. The Bimmer will make ur insuranc ego throught the roof, and the RSX insurance was expensive because it a 2 door car. Ask ur insurance copany about the rates for the TL.

Haha thanks for the Welcome ^^

Well, I live in Vancouver, BC, so it snows like 3days a year? and rains quite abit and also pretty sunny

You'd recommend me to wait for the 07' TL? Why's that?, thing is you know the feeling when your like 18 and you want a nice car to drive asap and all =/ haha

My parents are paying for the car, so it's "their" car but i'll drive it mostly

Wow...a lot of different ages drives the TL didn't notice, mostly thought it was just people with families or late 30's +, So you guys don't think a 18yo having a TL is over-kill or too "old"?

Oh...BMW's insurance is high too? I've never really looked it, Just know that RSX-S insurance is 4k+ for new drivers 0% discount

Yeah, I do love the design but I also like a lot of others too...haha

Have you guys driven the RX-8, how is it?, I wasn't really into it, until I saw a white one on the streets a few days ago and it was pretty nice

Right now my decisions are; TL, TSX, RX-8(maybe), probably NOT bmw anymore because it's quite costly and from I hear from here it's not that great, G35 is not bad but price is quite high

Or would their be a better car besides those listed above for a 18yo?

Just a thought that I want to put into consideration, Im 18 and I want a car that can "pick-up" girls and stuff....you know all that jazz when your in your teens, any ideas?

Thanks 3G TL~

if you need a car to pick up girls, you gotta kick your game up man....

also, the TL is a great car. I test drove the RX-8, and it's pretty nice. I don't know how much girls would like it, b/c i don't know how many girls are into speed and engines. From what I see, girls like the techy/luxury part of a car more, and the TL gives you both adequate speed, and a great tech/luxury combination.

Good luck on your decision man.

I go to Vancouver quite often and seeing what the youngens are driving down there get something different like the TL or you'll blend in with every other Oriental or East Indian in thier Ricers or BMWs .. (None of this is meant as derogitory BTW) ... Get a White one and lower it .. tint it and do the wheels .. stay away from the fart cans and keep it super clean... drive slow and cool .. the chicks will follow ..

The RX8 to me was a POS with very limited uses.

ExcelPremium to be cool you need to be different ... welcome aboard.

Do you live in Van proper or Richmond/Delt/Surrey etc?

I live in Vancouver as well and drive an 04 White TL. I wouldn't say the car is too "old" for you as it is aimed towards younger generation that are into blend of luxury, comfort and sportiness IMPO. TL is a great car for a daily use and it may help you get some attention from the girls if that is an important factor to you. From the way you use "^^", I would think that you're an Asian, am I right? I'm Korean BTW. Welcome aboard.

Just out of curiosity, how can you afford to buy a TL (or any other of those cars you've mentioned) when you're only 18?

I'm turning 26 in October. Too bad I'm in a real estate industry so I can't do anything crazy to the car (I wouldn't really want the exposure) I'll probably keep it stock and move onto something like an RL in couple years or so. In regards to a TSX, I'll be getting a TSX as a loaner this Wednesday when I take my car in for a service so I should be able to get back to ya on how I like it.
