General maintainence question

My 04 TL has just 34K on the clock and all is original. I have had the brake fluid, coolant, and trans fluid changed. I'm thinking that after 10yrs,the rubber components(rad hoses, timimg belt)might be at risk. Should I do the timing belt, water pump kit at this time? I will change the rad hoses regardless this spring. Any thoughts on this? Thanks.

Yes you should, at least inspect them for any cracking

Holy moly...34k?! at 10 yrs I would go ahead and do the TB. That's when I plan to do mine...I have an 05 with not quite 58k mi. I would check all the other hoses etc...replace as needed.

Has anyone heard of the belts being damaged or failing simply because of age? All the threads I have looked up about someone changing their belt early indicated the timing belt they took off still appeared to be in perfect condition.

^ yes. I haven't heard of that happening on an Acura, but on my old Mazda truck most of the belts and hoses were cracked due to the truck being parked outside for 5 years before I got it.

History of the car? Garaged, outside, climate controlled?

I'd definitely check the hoses and the serpentine belt. As far as the TB, hard to know what to suggest without more information on the history of the car.

Always garaged and extremely babied. I just figured that age was the main culprit here. I think I'll do the timing belt kit as well as the rad hoses. From the outside, this car looks 1 year old instead of 10.

Ten years is probably a good time to do the TB and other maintenance. I also own a 2005 Pilot with 91K miles and I plan on doing the TB next year. All the rubber seems very good in our Pilot and it has a lot more miles on it.
