So I've been enjoying my new TL since August 24th... I can't help but notice that I see myself filling my car up with gas much more often than my old 2003 Honda Accord...
On a regular week I use my car to drive to work (about 3 miles each way) M-F
I'm averaging anywhere between 17-19MPG with even very slow speeds, little braking and being very easy on the gas...
Just was wondering about any thoughts on this.. I'm hoping it improves with time...
Any suggestions?

A 3 mile trip doesn't even get the oil warm. So you're going to get bad mpg. However, you should be getting about the same relationship to EPA mileage estimates as you did with your Accord. For example, if the Acura "city mpg" estimate is 20 mpg, and you are getting 18, that's 10% less.
If your Accord city EPA estimate was 24 (like maybe it was a 4 cylinder engine?), you might have gotten 22 with it. What was your Accord city EPA estimate and what did you get.
But even that isn't a perfect method of predicting mileage, because of various problems with the laboratory methods in the EPA test methods. A big problem is your short trip - some cars do better in short, cold trips than others relative to EPA mileage, I'm sure.

Sounds like you're primarily "city" driving.. Either way, most here will admit that the TL's mpg figures increase as more miles are accrued. I know my 04 TL didn't really get good mileage until I had over 5K miles. Expect better after the first oil change etc.. The average on the forum for highway is around 28-32. City mileage always varies depending on shifting, braking, acceleration techniques etc.

You going by the MID or what you figure out from filling the car yourself?
Because for me no way is the car beating the epa...

Make MyTL Great Again
I've got 6500 miles now, and my 'normal driving routine' mileage has increased. After the first few tanks, I was getting 17mpg. Now I'm at 20 ~20.5. So it does seem to get better over time.

I got 31 MPG reading on the MID coming from my trip to Augusta. So it is possible to beat the EPA, but only on trips where you don't frequently stop and go.

I am still fighting off my "lead foot" syndrome I have.
But I had 14-17 MPG when I first got the car in city driving.
I have been able to maintain 17 MPG and haven't dropped below that after about 3,000 miles.

With an 05 AT NAV and 6K+ miles on the odo, my TL is doing 24-25 around town consistently. On a recent 1000 mile trip, mostly highway at 80mph, I averaged 29-30.
What a nice automobile this is.

I get about 17-18 miles per gallon average. Most of my driving is to work and back, which is only about 5-6 miles per trip. My trip consists of about 5 minutes freeway driving, and 10 city. On long freeway trips, I have no trouble hitting 29-30mpg.

I just had a trip from NYC to LA. Max I can run 510 miles for a tank. With 2 gallons gas in the back. I usually refill 15 to 16 gallons. My car has 25k miles. Hope it help.

I have 1700 miles on my car and from home using city streets and hwy going to work, I avg about 22 mpg, and the best I have received was 24mpg. It keeps getting better and better for me. I usually drive under 250 miles a week but since I have a new TL I keep driving and driving her. I just hate how I have to fill twice a week since gas prices are higher. I miss my RSX-S I was getting 28mpg and fill up once a week.

It could be worse; we could all have SUVs.
As for me I am at 765 miles and getting around 19 mpg average. I do a lot of city driving, so not horrible I suppose. I'd like to see it get over 22 or so though eventually.

Should I be getting that low mileage? I was hoping for at least 25MPG. Can I say that the engine is not broken yet? (As it is the case with most Honda’s – they normally start getting a decent mileage after 20-30k) is this something that a dealer can check under a warranty?
