Garage

How many TL's have the luxury of living in a nice controlled enviroment. Unfortunately I live in an apartment with no garages. My dream is to one day have a garage to put my future 05' TL in with a hot water hose setup for cold weather hand washing!! I know its not bad to keep the TL outside, but those frosty snowy mornings are quickly approaching and how sweet it must be to get in without the Houdini act of trying to open the door and not get snow all over the interior.

My friend, you need to move to California. Not only will you be able to afford a garage, it's been over 5 months since a drop of rain has fallen and there's never so much as a hint of snow. You can be outside washing your car in January with the cold water hose and *maybe* if it's a cold day, it will dip down into the sixties for the high. Tough to beat!

I hear you!

Sorry- back to the post as well. Yes, I keep the TL garaged, primarily so I can sleep well at night knowing that some idiot (or a deer for that matter) won't bump, scratch, nick, kick, etc. the car while it's resting outside. Also good for keeping dust off the car and the sunlight off the leather when I'm sleeping in on Sunday morning.

My TL and my wife's BMW live in our garage.. attached to our home. The garage is pretty large so the cars fit easily along with all of my lawn tools (mowers, etc.) and my storage racks and workbench. At work, I park in a safe spot, under cover to protect the TL from the weather and unfriendly elements.

She's well protected, I suppose.

Are the deer roaming wild and free in San Francisco again? I thought that the SFPD Venison Squad had that problem pretty well controlled.

I've got the TL in the garage. Along with my Cutlass. And 3 bicycles. And 2 motorcycles. Kids toys, a water heater and a workbench. IN A TWO CAR GARAGE.

Yes - it is a very tight fit. Only the driver can get in / out. Everyone unloads before the TL gets pulled in.

The biggest reason for the squeeze play is to avoid the rather nasty hail storms that frequent our locale.

I'm not shitting you! I was standing outside my house last night and watched one walk right down the street; it's about the fifth deer I've seen in the past 3 months. We're at the foot of the hills so I think they drift down into neighborhood gardens/yards at night looking for fruit, tomatoes, etc. Damn nature!

And I don't think I'd trust the SFPD to shoot anything.

Haha, right, I miss that we had less than 7 rainy days per year in CA. California is a good place to enjoy the life.

I keep my TL in a heated attached garage. Very nice in NE Ohio. I always garage my cars. I feel like I'm abusing them when I leave them out over night.

It does sound enticing, but I would miss the midnight walks in a beautiful snowstorm that makes everything seem clean and white, with endless amounts of snot running down your neck. I would also miss wearing long johns on an adventuresome sunday afternoon in january, or sipping some spiced hot apple cider with the steam pouring off in the frigid air.

Back to the post, I guess there is more that a garage offers than what I thought. Frisky deer, large hail, and the sunlight from the lazy Sundays. Very interesting. Is the proper procedure to keep the windows rolled down while its in the garage?

I live in an apartment, but I do keep my TL in the garage. The garage is not attached, but luckily the "bank" of garages is located directly behind my apartment. The garage is an extra $90 per month, but it is worth it. Someone scratched my G35 Coupe when I had it and I do not want to go through the same ordeal with my TL (which I love so much more than the G35). Unfortunately, my Maxima does not have the luxury of being garage-kept. She sleeps outside at night and only goes into the garage when the TL is on a road-trip.

But how do you get it up the stairs, Jani? LOL!

We're very lucky to have two garages - a 3 car and a single. The 3 car holds our Wrangler, our 3/4 ton Ram - now THAT'S a tight fit! About an inch between the roof and the bottom of the door! You need nerves of steel getting that thing in and out. Plus a shitload of junk (yard stuff, tools, workbench, pool chemicals, firewood etc). The single car garage will be home for the TL or RL next month.

I really don't understand some of my neighbors. They fill their garages full of crap and leave their cars out. Besides the elements, I'm always worried about the cars getting broken into or vandalised.

AFFORD A GARAGE? IN CALIFORNIA?
What job do you have? Housing is crazy expensive out here! Although most aparments do have at least one covered parking spot for each unit. But you live in SF. A lot of apartments in SF don't include parking.

I'm in Santa Clara and all I've got is a carport, but I'm thankful for that. Here in sunny CA I'm more worried about tree sap and bird crap and the occasional rain.

Can you get one of those little carport/tent things? At least you can keep your baby free from most of the sky-falling elements.
