G35 Rated #1 By Money

I just got my February edition of Money magazine. Lo and behold, the 4-dr. G35 is rated as the #1 car in its class for all those reasons we TL owners could probably care less about:

* More space in the back seat.
* AWD version (but that would be nice, admittedly).
* Etc.

No mention at all of the TL or what it has that the G35 doesn't (including good looks). The TSX, however, took top honors in its class.

Guess I didn't know that Infiniti published Money magazine!!! At least for those of you complaining that there are too many TL's on the road, maybe this will slow down sales (but I doubt it).

I'll take my TL hands down over that goofy looking G35 (I have to laugh every time I see that front grille).

Who cares.....there are so many other sites/ mags that lists the TL as best in class. It's only the opinion of that magazine. Nothing more. Why so many members on this board care so much is beyond me. You guys are always saying how the only reason G35 owners bash the TL is because they need to justify their purchase their cars. Couldn't the same be said of all these TL owners too? If you really need to put down the G just to make yourself happy, then you guys have bigger issues. Grow up people, they're both very nice cars. Any of us would be lucky to have either one.

The real question is who spends more $$$ on advertising in Money Magazine, Infiniti or Acura. That should help give you a hint as to how their selection was made, though the G35 does have the AWD option.

Yeah, it's a conspiracy against Honda. The fact that you'd b---h about a mag not helping to justify your purchase is pathetic. Enjoy your TL but, dont expect the rest of the world to center their automotive lives around it.

I always thought the G35 had less space in the back seat.

As someone who has worked on Nissan products for years, alongside Acuras and Hondas, I'd prefer a Honda product any day of the week. That includes Infiniti as well-I just don't like them as much, and I think some of Nissan's engineering is "bass-ackwards."

read it all...

Performance trails only BMW; best
buy among rear-drive, luxury sport
sedans.

it might say best overall... it also says this...

I never let any magazines tell me which car to buy either and I have both. Very few address the long term ownership issues as well until after you own the car for a while.

Every other miniscule differences aside, the G35 is an ugly car, and I would not want to spend that much money on a car that does not look even decent.

People really need to stop the obsession with the magazine ratings, and where and how the G35 is rated.

opinions vary.. I hated spending that much money on any car that has spotty build problems which one thing the mags do not cover all the time. I do not care how good it looks if it has a long list if problems. On that that has steered me away from acura recently I have owned a few acuras and the newer the model the greater the problems.

I deal with a lot of different mechanical designs and know what it takes to produce a complex product at a low cost. My concern here is the quality of the cl tl lines have not been what they were for the legend. To me there was a cost trade off to make them more affordable to a greater number of people. 40-44K was a lot of cake to shell out for a car 10 years back. In 99 (correct me if I am wrong) the tl was redesigned on an accord platform. I always thought the accord was a great deasign from a quality perspective and thought the tl was a good bang for the buck back then. But I soon discovered paint issues, etc. Things that I have never had on cars (I have had 14) over the years..

just for food for thought... there are times where you get what you pay for...

Got to agree with ClnoB... A friend of mine got a ford 500 and it was mention as one of the worst cars.. They love it.. I cannot understand why.. Did they own crap before.. Did the outdated Taurus 3.0 engine make any difference to them... who knows.. but they love the car... Of course I had to tell them that it was mentioned as one of the worst...

...cause its important to give others an inferiority complex. In the meantime, they're probably only paying 1/2 as much as you for full coverage insurance.

Since when is money magazine a car expert???? They are a mediocre investment magazine, they are a pathetic car evaluator. It's like the Rob Report, for middle management types that would like you to think they are the CEO

geez your nosey as hell.. they have the same record as me and it does not matter if you're married.. more than 6 years of driving with a clean accident record and no tickets..

same general location credit??? for insurance.. that's nuts..

as for being married I would assume your insurance would go up.. As they say married men may live longer but they are more willing to die.. !!! So a married guy's should be higher...

Dude! I live in NJ. Welcome to OUR world!!! Ask ANYONE here from NJ what the deal is. And, insurance premiums go DOWN when you're married, assuming clean records.

You are absolutely correct about that in NJ. I dont know where everyone else is living, but here in NJ your premium goes down drastically in fact after you get married.

Spelling is optional for them, however.

Gotta stand behind that..it's just the way it is.

Marital status, location of residence, age, grades (if youre in school/college/grad) and of course the obvious drivin record, car..etc

Legend had name change to RL. Vigor 5 Cylinder became the TL. There was no great price reduction.

Also insurance goes down when you get married because insurance statistics indicate that you become more responsible ie. less likely to spend time drinking, running the street and trying to impress your drunk friends while chasing whatever it is singles chase. This is why it is not discrimination.

So-far no problems with my TL. I think you see far more reported problems here on a percentage basis than Honda/Acura actually has. Sorry you are so unhappy with your TL. What year do you have?

You're kidding right....? I get much better rates due to a good credit rating, amd married and over 25 and the fact that i have multiple policies with them.

Is it discrimination to charge someone $150 to cash a $500 check? happens thousands of times every single day.
