Fuel Tank

My manual says that the fuel tank on the 2004 TL hold 17.09 gallons. I get about 13 gallons in max when the empty tank light comes on. Does that mean there's still some 4 gallons in reserve?

I get about 200 miles before I need to get gas, whereas on my Bimmer I had easily 340 miles with same fuel tank capacity.

Thanks,

HCG....

Short answer? Yes.

This question has been asked and answered a zillion times. Check in 3G Garage in the stickies if you want more detail. Many mfrs do this, because owners squawk at the car company rather than themselves when they run out of gas. It is an example of cognitive dissonance taken to the extremes as we do here in the US - something bad happens, it is always someone else's fault. So Acura, like may others, adds a huge buffer between when the light comes on, and when the car is actually out of fuel. You are better off not letting the fuel get very low anyway.

Thanks,

Just yesterday I was able to put 17.05 gallong of gas.
But pump stops at about 13-14 gallongs, however you just keep pumping and pumping and you will make it 17 gallong if your tank is really empty.

Then you look at the ground and wonder what the puddle is ... hmmm maybe light a match to add some light to the subject .. bend down to see exactly what it is that's leaking from your car and ........

Good plan
