Fu*king traffic agents
I was actually sitting in my car, parked at an expired meter, waiting for my gf to come out of the train.
Traffic cop came over and started to scan my windshield. But my windshield is tinted, and the scan just wouldn't go through. (same thing happens with the ez pass, i have to stick it out of the window) - i sat back for a minute and watched the cop try to scan.
Then when he started to manually type in info, I finally rolled down my window and politely asked what the problem was.
He nearly jumped out of his skin - "I didn't know there was someone in the car!"
And he just walked away.

lol I would have just laid on the horn!
I don't think that it was necessary to show your uncle's badge to the traffic cop, either way knowing a police officer will not grant you immunity. Why were you carrying his badge anyways?
Best way to fight it off? well considering that you just drove off, I don't think there is a "best" way to deal with it...

I don't take advantage of it but being that I had a civic with motor work it was kinda loud but it sounded strong not like those fart cans. as you can see I only been pulled over for spending and it was like 10-15 mph over not like 80 mph in a 55. when I get pulled over I turn on all my lights and bring down all my windows and put my key on top of the car and when the cops pull up to me they always ask "are you on the job" I say no and they say " oh cause we do this also" and I don't show them my badge they see it when I open my wallet and they ask about it and let me go. its not like I wait for them to pull up and show them

a lawyer cost more then the ticket lmaooo.. btw about how much will that ticket be... i feel like im back in high school when i use to cut and check the mail and take the cut cards and throw it out so my pops or moms wont see it lol, now im checking the mail everyday so my father wont see that ticket because even doe the cars under my name he will say somethiing lol
If you don't receive a ticket after a week I would call them and ask you to check your record. After enough time, they will issue a warrant for your arrest for the unpaid ticket(after a few years that is, not any time soon) but they can suspend your registration after 6 months or something like that.
If you have the ticket, just pay it, and it will be over

[QUOTE=mglax13;10427972]It's an NYPD traffic agent. They write tickets to actual NYPD cops when they are parked near the precinct with their placard in the window. They don't care that you're relative is a cop.
I don't know where you got that from, if you are a cop displaying your placard near your station house aka precint, and you get a ticket which i doubt it, all you have to do is go down to Traffic Headquarters on Brooklyn and show them you badge and id and will be tossed immediately! trust me on that one!! It really have to be a Badass Traffic Agent, to go to your car displaying a NYPD Restricted Parking Placard on you windshield near a precint where cops are given those permits for that purpose and still give you a ticket! Mayor Bloomberg stated that all city permits were to be reduced by certain percentage and should only be used only when working for the city or the department, and still people park near bus stops, hydrants, no standing zones, ect...and traffic agents show them curtesy!

Makes you appreciate how nice we have it on the gold coast
I wonder how many agent shootings there are in NYC..or follow home blanket parties?
A different life style out east for sure
To the OP
Two Things:
a) this thread has no merit.
b) to relax your mind, they are traffic agents, they have NOTHING to do with the police depot... So no worries. If it was not scanned, you are ok.
By law if you in the middle intersection due to an unavoidable situation, that dumbass traffic agent should of guided you through, without giving you a ticket. Again, no scan, no worries.
EDIT: I've reread the thread... you mean they were directing traffic??!? and not just passing by? If that's the case, stupid move on your part no to pay attention.

can you imagine street agents in LA? The LAPD would be too busy investigating shootings and manslaughter cases to enforce any traffic laws... gotta love CA!
I think this rant by OP was about what in Los Angeles would be called the Parking Enforcement Bureau, or "meter maids," that enforce parking regs, meters, control traffic as necessary, etc. in LA. IIRC, Culver City, Santa Monica and several other smaller cities also have separate, non-peace-officer depts. for parking enforcement as well.

I thought this was about moving traffic though... am I right NYers? Educate some West Coasters, will ya?
I have no love for traffic agents. Once an agent gave me a blatantly B.S. parking ticket. I called 311 and filed a complaint. An investigator from my local precinct dropped the ticket and hopefully got the agent disciplined.
Instead of being calm and thinking things through you assaulted a civil servant and abused a PBA badge (your uncle must be proud).
Dont blame the traffic agent, its not their fault. The blame should rest on our money hungry mayor. He decided that the city could make a ton of money by allowing regular traffic agents to give moving violation tickets. Specifically "in the box" tickets. Beleive me the agents are very happy about it either.

Since September 10th, when blocking the box was changed from a moving violation to a parking violation, the NYPD has issued over 1,000 citations to the tune of $150 each. But some traffic cops have come out against the change because they say they're ill-equipped to deal with traffic stops, which are "one of the most dangerous interactions even police officers engage in," according to Anthony Miranda of the National Latino Officers Association. He tells WNYC that NYPD officers "have specialized training specifically for the purposes of car stops. Traffic enforcement agents do not. They do not even have training in non-lethal weapons." In response, Deputy Commissioner Paul Browne released a statement wondering, "Where's he been? Traffic enforcement has always been a difficult and often dangerous job for TEAs and police officers alike, particularly at busy intersections." And with the return of the squeegee men, it's only going to get worse!
