Fu*king traffic agents

so today I go get my hids and as im on my way back home the light turns green and I go and a car stop real quick so I stopped and now im trapped in the intersection so there's like 5 traffic cops on foot and one comes up and try's to scan my car and I put my windshield wipers on and it hit here scanner and im trying to tell her that my unkles a cop and I showed her my badge and she still try's to scan my car so I pulled off. I don't know if she got my plates but I know for sure she didn't scan my car now if I get this ticket what is the best way I can fight this? I have a clean record, been driving for 6 years and no points.

im thinking of telling the judge there was 5 traffic agents there and there's a bunch of traffic. if they were directing traffic the right way I would had never been court in the middle.

or I can lie and say the guy in front of me stopped to talk to a traffic agent through the window and left me behind him and another traffic agent came to me and ticketed me while I tried telling her that that guy was talking to one of your people.

what you guys think?

oh yes- definetly tell the Judge the Law Officers were doing a messed up job and used it as an excuse to ticket your car- they love that

Were you in a hand controlled intersection? broken lights? how does this work normally? Legally whats the story

Pleading good driver history and simply confused at strange intersection- nervous and hit the wipers trying to turn off the car--car in front stopped suddenly... that would get traffic school or lowered fine

BUT
You drove off while `being detained`--any time you are speaking with the law by their request- you are being detained--
Now, after giving the My Family is LE story on such a simple issue -they have some more info about you

Save that courtesy badge for when you get caught doing 100.
Its one thing if YOU are a Volunteer fire dept or a ER Nurse,,those types get a break for their service and the fact they may one day save the officers home or family...
They dont want you- mr. I got a tricket from you#@%^*$*&%$% ---
lets drive the truck slowwwly and safely to this call! on the job~

So you split the scene thinking no way do they have cameras and modern technology?
What you did was endanger an officer and strike them with a part of the car to their govt issued equipment!

Dont be surprised by a 2am visit when they locate you in bed and use the tazer to awaken and alert you to a needed discussion

I don't think that it was necessary to show your uncle's badge to the traffic cop, either way knowing a police officer will not grant you immunity. Why were you carrying his badge anyways?

Best way to fight it off? well considering that you just drove off, I don't think there is a "best" way to deal with it...

do I understand your post to mean you got stuck in the intersection on a red light?- appearently one marked for no stopping here!! during red lights-marked on the ground?
And why were the cops in the road?

Its every drivers responsibilty NOT to leave the safety of their side/ pass the solid holdback line until there is sufficient room for your car to cross the intersection and be in the lane, not in the intersection
thats basic physics applied- you dont want half the car mashed in do you?
A big truck is commin and there is last 2 feet of your car....your fault in an accident...

Many states have a simple mounted red light camera system- if you are in the intersection after it goes red- the flash triggers and you get a nice pic of you and the car with a fine of $247 fine+ 150 court fees!! in the mail

there are special family member `courtesy badges`-
they are not real, its to identify you in an emergency as someone they should help--- not wait to harvest for parts~

Might get you around a ticket, but uncle is a long way from dad or brother is in Service

1st off knowing a police officer can carry immunity take it from me whos father is a high ranking officer in NYPD. 2. it wasnt a his uncles actual badge it was a courtesy badge they give out to strickly family members... you wont get a visit at 2 a.m by anybody it was a traffic cops you didnt run over an ESU officer or anything i wouldnt sweat it if u get a ticket in the mail u get it and fight it its not like the ESU team is gonna break down your door man its new york city the same shit probably happened 2 blacks away from you to another person they dont wait there time on that stupid shit.....and if the ywere seriously going to do something believe me when u got home there would be cops waiting for u not hours after the fact things dont work like that

Those badges are bullshit, why should someone get special treatment from the police just because they are related to a police officer? They should get treated the same way as the rest of us, on equal terms. It's not fair.

It's an NYPD traffic agent. They write tickets to actual NYPD cops when they are parked near the precinct with their placard in the window. They don't care that you're relative is a cop.

The courtesy shields are just that, asking to grant a courtesy. If the PO doesn't want to grant you one, well then sucks! Don't break the law. I've been down that road before. I'm a volunteer firefighter, I've gotten pulled over for speeding, the cop saw the sticker on my car and the light on my dash. He asked me if I was a vol. FF, I told him yes. He told that me that what I was doing was commendable, and that I have 15 days to answer to this ticket that he's handing me for speeding. It comes down to don't break the law. Sucks!

That is so true. I was with my friend in the city, the parking meter ran out of time, as we were walking back to they car, we see one of them walk over to the car to scan the registration. By the time we are standing next to her, my friend takes his badge out and asks very politely for a courtesy. The bitch says, "I cant take the ticket back", meanwhile shes still trying to scan it. Just shows, some people just don't care who you are.

To the OP

Two Things:

a) this thread has no merit.

b) to relax your mind, they are traffic agents, they have NOTHING to do with the police depot... So no worries. If it was not scanned, you are ok.

By law if you in the middle intersection due to an unavoidable situation, that dumbass traffic agent should of guided you through, without giving you a ticket. Again, no scan, no worries.

EDIT: I've reread the thread... you mean they were directing traffic??!? and not just passing by? If that's the case, stupid move on your part no to pay attention.

Unless that intersection has the white cross sections. He's getting a ticket with points. No blocking cross streets. No excuses.

Well, I'm assuming he didn't decide to get caught on those box intersection. Those are guaranteed 2 points, and the cameras are usually there to assist...

OP, please don't tell me that you've tried to pull that stunt in the city?

Traffic agents are the worse. I remember when I was driving along flatbush and I saw a traffic agent walk over to a car parked at the bus stop. Not all the way, but partially in. The poor guy was in the car waiting for someone to come out the store.

The traffic agent just walked up and scanned him.

LOL. NYC traffic cops are now employed by the NYC Police Department. You can be arrested for assaulting a NYC police personnel with a deadly weapon. Unless it was a diet soda.

Usually they don't give points even if your blocking the grid but if you try to evade them, then that's another story.
you can check this web site to see if the ticket went through or not, but if it was done manually you need to give it a week or two!

Huh? A guy parks at a hydrant, gets a ticket, gets upset and punches the ticketing agent? They should've towed his car and demolish it and throw the guy in jail.

"haha we can park here and u cant"

I was actually sitting in my car, parked at an expired meter, waiting for my gf to come out of the train.

Traffic cop came over and started to scan my windshield. But my windshield is tinted, and the scan just wouldn't go through. (same thing happens with the ez pass, i have to stick it out of the window) - i sat back for a minute and watched the cop try to scan.

Then when he started to manually type in info, I finally rolled down my window and politely asked what the problem was.

He nearly jumped out of his skin - "I didn't know there was someone in the car!"

And he just walked away.
