Front seat belt curiosity

Has anyone else noticed that the two front seat belts are not attached the same way. The driver's belt is attached to the floor/chassis while the passenger's belt is attached to the passenger seat. I asked at the dealership and they didn't even realize let alone know why. Does anyone here know.....just curious.

What year car do you have? I think a change was made in the anchoring from 04 to 05.

No, I don't. Perhaps it has something to do with better anchoring in the 05s. I have an 04 and will look at mine when I have a chance.

Check out this... this was part of the early announcement by Acura...

If the seat provides the required structural strength, manufacturers do this to keep the seat belt attachment "the same" no matter what the seat bottom location is... Basically, it moves with the seat vs having the seat belt tighten up if the seat is moved while the passenger is wearing the belt etc..

I myself wish all seat belts were within the seat - like many GM vehicles. Much handier, more functional, and less clutter etc.

I hate it when bucket seats have the seat belt strap mounted to the seat. Instead of being stiff its hanging off another belt. Odyseys have them in the back(not sure about the front) and it seems so stupid. Our caravan has them mounted on the outside of the seat(the way they should be)

So why not do it to both front seats? It would be easier to grab, especially for short drivers.
