Front grille

How strong is the front aluminum grille? If a SUV backs up into it while parking will it bend, crack or scratch. I was just wondering because I usually park my front towards the other car while parking in a lot.

I'm not sure, and I don't want to find out. But it also depends on whether how fast the other car is going. If its really slow at least a scratch I would expect. But if its harder a dent/it breaking.........

I would think it would do all of the above. But it would do the same to your rear bumper or tailights IMO. Lets just hope you don't have to find out.

When I have no choice but to parallel park, I try to park at the end so other drivers can only park in front ot me. I figure the front plate should do some protection. With SUV's, they are so big, they are so much higher than my front bumper.

its pretty sturdy, the back support of the grill is likely to bend in before the actual grille and even that would take a large impact, not simple bumper to bumper tapping...

When I got rear ended and pushed into the car in front of me a few months back, the trim around the grille popped out a bit from the bumper. I just popped it back in.

I don't know what it is made of - but it dents pretty easily - I took a direct hit from a rock on the Hwy. Looks like I was shot in the grill with a BB gun or something.

The silver and dark grey stuff? That's plastic...I have a nice big rock chip in the dark grey part...definitely plastict. Hell, the Acura symbol is probably plastic, too (sure looks like chrome-ized plastic).

I got some very tiny dents/chips on the sliver part of the grille. Definitely from rocks on the freeway. You can only see it if you look really close. It's the same color underneath.

Very easily dented and smooshed.

T-boned a Civic who ran a stop (their fault).

Damage so far: ($4,200)
Hood & bump
passenger HID
Radiator
AC condenser
grille & emblem (separate parts from Acura :P )
inner fender "thing" on passenger side. (Got the stuff verbal from the body shop and I was crushing my phone in rage at this point)

Angry Annoyed

My wife enjoys running the front of the TL into and over high curbs. The result is that the paint is rubbed off of the front bend in the plastic, almost uniformly left and right. Does anybody know of any on-line dealers who charge a fair price for touch-up paint? I used to deal with a New York supplier, but I cannot remember its name.

I found out it is all one piece. The dark gray is the same piece as the rest of the bumper, just not painted. The brushed "metal" trim just snaps in.
