Can I just pop it out?

I have not looked at it in the light but can I just pop it out to paint my grill black?

 

I think theres a screw in the back..may be wrong

 

You are going to remove the whole external grille assembly to paint it right? I think that's better than leaving it on the car and masking it. You can take the emblem off. It has a "cup" that surrounds it and it sits in and can be uncsrewed from the back. IMO I would recommend you have a body shop do this. I know many people have been breaking out the spray paint cans to do this lately but the way my car has been done looks like it came from the factory. I could have never pulled it off myself. It matches perfect and is more chip resistant than if I did a Dupli-Color job on it.

You'll be reinstalling it after you paint it right? Thing is, it will look REALLY weird if you leave it off. It will leave a big "hole" in the middle of your grille.
