Front drive side wheel makes a clunking noise while moving straight

My 2008 TL (171k miles) has a clunking noise while moving forward. It's only audible if I have my windows down and, if I'm going next to a center divider (that way the sound is amplified by echo, i guess).
It's definitely a metal clunking noise.
Seems to come when moving forward, but does NOT seem to happen if i hit a bump/hole etc (which would be just the suspension thud, no clunking noise)

Anyone has had experience with a similar issue?
Is this a critical issue to look?

Suspenison checking should be habit. 6-12, 3-9, check upward movement of lower ball joint with prybar, same with upper ball joint but that one is checked with 6/12.

Does braking a little change the sound at all? Does the sound vary based on wheel speed? Can you tell if it’s front or rear, driver or passenger side? You’re saying it’s a clunk sound, but not related to bumps, do you need to accelerate or slow down to trigger the clunk?
