My License plate holder came off recently and the plate holder scraped up against the roads. I took the whole unit off and now I dont have any plates on the front. I live in Texas... does anyone know if its required by state law to have them in the front? I've been driving around and have noticed that a majority of nice cars such as bmw, benz and infiniti don't have them on. I have not yet contacted Acura to have them replace my plate holder. I like the look of the car w/o the plates.

 

It is illegal in Texas to drive without your plates in front. Kinda sucks. Cops will pull you over so just make sure that you have it at least visible in the windshield until you can get it fixed. If you get stopped by the five-O, make sure you have the broken bracket handy and let them know that you are waiting for the dealer to replace it. If the cop is not an a$$, he'll let you off with a warning

 

As above, and I'm not encouraging you to leave it off. But, A lot of nice cars, as you've mentioned, don't have it in front. They will not flag you down just because of no front license plate, but if they flag you down for another infarction, they may issue you a ticket too for the no license plate in front.
