Former Evo owner turned TL driver

Just wanted to say hi and introduce myself here in the Acura TL community. Im a long time Evo owner and enthusiast, and have always wanted to get the TL when the 3rd gen came out. I enjoy every minute of it, and compared to the 'box I used to own (I owned a JDM-spec'd Evo VIII MR and an Evo VIII before that) its a totally different experience.

Here are some pics of my 06 TL 5AT w/ Navi...

thanks for looking.

congrats o the TL. at acurazine, you will find a wealth of knowledge, and also the modding addiction will come back shortly after seeing a few of the TL's here.

already saw a lot of modded TL's here. its very encouraging.

that said, I moved from the Evo community to lessen my spending on mods (if there is such a thing). Even with the TL, we still have another Evo MR in the family (my younger brother has one) and Im also the head of the US-chapter of the Emperor Evo Group, so if I need a speed fix, I can always get it.

plans for the TL arent as grand as what I did to my Evo. I love the white color (my first car back then was a Pearl White 3000GT) on the TL, which was a definite upgrade from the Scotia White on the Evo. a few minor details are in order, but for now Im just enjoying the luxury and comfort that the car gives. cant really ask for more at this point.

thanks for the welcome!

good choice. A few months ago i was going to get the mitsu MR or the TL. Then i thought back to the day when i had a 99 gst and remembered how much money i spent on a turbo car. So i decided to get the tl so i would be limited compared to the mr.. hehe
nice

Welcome to the group. Excellent choice of color. Come out to the BBQ meet at Long Beach on Oct 29 if you have a chance.

No Modding? Yea sure, I told myself the the same when I got mine. Give it some time and you'll be at it again.

Come to the dark side skywalker. hehe

lol

I saw that meet. Ill try to make it, as I have an Emperor meet that day as well. Even without my Evo, as head of the Emperor Group here, I still have a lot of commitments and meets to go to.

maybe if there is a socal meet that doesnt conflict with our meets Ill try and stop by.

thanks though!

I think you'll be pleased as long as you accept that you will never get what you got out of the evo..as far as performance.

You did take a huge leap in luxery though.....IMO..

Since you're new Ill leave this here for now so everybody can give you a nice welcome... Ill move it to the photo gallery later...

oh im loving every minute of it. I admit it doesnt have the oomph of the MR, but the luxury more than makes up for it. plus the peace of mind that Im totally invisible to all the young ricers that keep trying to race me before is equally gratifying. sure i could have gotten the TL w/ the 6MT and Brembos, but that would be tempting myself to try and add more mods - something I actually dont want to do anymore.

thanks for the welcome though! I look forward to posting more pics in the photo gallery soon

Thanks! I use a Canon Digital Rebel XT. I usually shoot in RAW to get the maximum flexibility from the shots.

evomacky,
Congrats on the car and welcome to the forum. You'll find many useful tips here as many of our AZ members are eager to help. Coming from an EVO, I would suggest you lay off on the mods. You won't be satisfied with any performance upgrades (trust me). So save your money on those and upgrade the suspension, rims or stereo system.

Best of luck and enjoy. I too have a WDP TL.

thanks!

i do plan to lay off the mods, but some of the most common ones i did for my past cars I already did on the TL (i.e. remove the front plate bracket, change the interior, trunk and rear license plate lights to PIAA super whites). so far thats about it.

what I do plan is just stronger, lighter wheels. my dilemma is, is the TPMS transferrable to an aftermarket wheel? if it isnt, I may postpone the wheel buying (I dont plan to do it anytime soon anyway).

other than that detail, im really happy with my purchase.
