Forgot to tell the dealer NOT TO wash the car
When i dropped off my 08 TL-s, I totally forgot to tell them not to wash the car although i wanted a free wash due to all the stories that I've heard from fellow AZ members. I called the dealer and they have already washed the car. Should I walk around the car and look for any scratch marks? I think they used a machine wash.

Well too late. Some places do a fair job. May not be any scratches. You can check to be sure. At least most scratches can be buffed out. Just let them know next time you take the car in. Hope they did a good job and that there's no scratches.......

Yeah, do a walk around. Costs nothing and takes 2 minutes. Even if they didn't wash it, do a walk around. If your car is in the care and custody of someone else, do a walk around before and after.

I always do a thorough walk around before driving off their lot. You never know, they might have been careless with a wrench, put a door ding on it or a scratch, scratched a wheel - anything can happen. If you see it and bring it to their attention before you drive off the lot, you have a much better chance of them owning up to it and fixing it than if you drive off and come back later.

^ I agree, I always do the walk around when I pick my car up! You never know what kind of joker was driving your car. I like to make sure they were not using my rims as curb finders too!!

see thread below for when i took in my car for the PS recall... but always do a walk around and check their work... i have read stories of sockets being left inside engine bays...
https://acurazine.com/forums/showthr...870&highlight=
Cliffs:
1.) Took in for PS recall, told them not to wash
2.) They forgot and washed it anyway
3.) Arrived to pick up car, did a full check for scratches, paint was fine with no major scratches
4.) Got home and smelled burning and saw smoke coming from under hood
5.) Checked engine bay and didn't see any leaks, must have been residual fluid burning off, discovered engine cover scratched
6.) Dealer replaced cover after a month of chasing

It's ironic there a new thread about this. Yesterday, I asked my dealership (Jay Wolfe Acura-KC) about their crew for car washing. They told me that they actually hired an outside company to do their car washs. There is such high demand for good car washing-they want to make sure it is done right. They are on the premises and take care of this for the dealership. I've got to think that if the dealership pays extra to have these people on site, they hopefully do an excellent job.

Definitely do a walkaround. My gti friend took in his car for maintenance and they washed it. He discovered that they nicked one of his rims cause of the machine wash pulley. He told them right away and they replaced his wheel free of charge, but I'm guessing if he hadn't said that on the lot, they probably wouldn't have done anything.

More than likely they hired an outside crew not for their mad skills....but more than likely because it was cheaper.
