Ford Edge LED Strips

Okay so i have never been a big fan of the led strip drl's in the headlights, i think they look cheap (to each his own though), however the new ford edges have strip led's but they look like a solid bright white stripe (which i happen to like because you can't see the individual led's). My question is; Does anyone know where to get these and what makes these different then the ones you see that are on audi's (you can see the individual led's in the strip). I think these types of strips are on the new chrysler 200's and possibly the 300's as well.

I have some interest in these as well. I think it's some very bright EL light or maybe smaller LEDs w/ a diffuser above it so you can't see the LEDs themselves.

If anything looks cheap to me, its the 200/300 lights in the chrysler's.....*yuck*. I'd much rather have the audi style strip led's.

^ I agree. Plus the LED strips in the Audi's and Mercedes are 100x brighter than the dinky strips in the Fords, Kias and Chryslers.

those strips would be nice if they are brighter, the current ones are weaksauce, get a proper LED strip and add a proper diffuser... voila

Every time I see those LED strips on any make of car I think of old rusty Corollas and Civics that mock them which I see often living in a downtown city (well, outskirts), personal preference says yuck.

The point here is to not be able to see the individual LEDs. Mounting it onto the 04 lower bumper will be a bit of a challenge too.

These might look good with the RJ front bumper. Try to get the strips to run along the vents on the side of the front bumper.

Dang, I thought I'd be the one to originate the idea
That's the only way I think the Ford runing light would look good.

Here's a thread on a ford forum so you can see the assembly for those lights:
http://www.fordedgeforum.com/index.p...1-limited-diy/

i think it wouldnt be too hard to install in our horizontal bumper grilles with slight modification.

They strip on the Ford are not bright if you are just looking cosmetic look. It's LED but with a frosted tube.

I think this may look better for the DRL.

I'm also talking with Diode Dynamics about their new products that are coming out that will look like this.

For me, since this is my daily driver and family car, this project won't happen for a few months. Heh.

You could do what I did. I installed Hella universal LED DRLs. They use pretty much the exact same LEDs and optics as many of the new OEM LED DRLs.

Compared to the new Mercedes DRLs.

Yea that's my car. They are LED strips I just bought at a local dealer and you can cut them down to the correct size. I just wired them into my halos so I can switch them on or off.

Hey Splew, yeah I saw your car, I'm trying to achieve DRLs as a single beam instead of 5 or 12 LEDs. There's probably a diffuser involved. I'm just more partial towards 1 light source instead of multiple.

I also like zerolq's car but I don't have a ronjon bumper
