Fogs as DRL's
Fogs as DRL's
Has anyone modded their fog lights to come on instead of the DRL's. I noticed on the new MDX's the DRL's are down in the fog housing and it looks really cool. I would like to do the same thing on my TL-S. Or maybe even just mod the fogs to turn on without turning on the headlights. Has anyone done anything similar yet that can help me out?
It will be easier for you to get aftermarket foggies with a switch to do this mod.
Stock foglights all run thru a computer, which unfortunately is not easy (or fun) to mess with as you will get warning lights.

I was thinking the same thing this morning. Since I have the Yellow bulbs, I want them on by themself, vs only on w/ the head lights. You can barely see the Yellow, since the Main HID headlights sort of blends and washes out the yellowness.
In order to sucessfully do this, you have a few choices
- rewire the foglight wires to a separate switch
- or something simplier, reroute the power wire on the fogs and use exisiting switch

Here you go man. I will be doing this in the near future as well.

Neither of those links are what I had in mind but thanks for them anyway. I have an 08 Type S so it has the factory fogs already I was wondering about rerouting the wiring from the drl down to the fog and disabling the factory drl all together. I may play around with some idea's next weekend when I put in my Hoen Endurance bulbs in my fogs.
You can do some automobile surgery and do a simple swap:
1) Take off your front bumper and headlights to get free access to all the wiring.
2) Unplug your DRLs and chop off the bulb harnesses (the bulb holders) with about 2" of slack. Extend these wires and reroute them down towards your fogs. Use wire loom and zip-ties as necessary.
3)Unplug your fogs and chop off the harnesses just like above. Reroute those wires back up to your DRLs.
4) Now splice the fog harness on the DRL wiring and the DRL harness on the fog wiring and put the bulbs back in.
So what you have here are lower fogs that will behave like DRLs and the place where your DRLs were can be fogs that come on at will whenever you hit your fog-light switch. Those can be kept off of course or you can even skip that step if you don't want them like you said. Just disconnect them and insulate them REALLY well and out of the way. My advise is that you might want to keep them connected though because I think you may get a "bulb out" warning on the dash; you can't mess with the fuse either.

I was thinking about slicing the wiring from the drl down into the fog wiring, and leaving the fogs hooked up as normal so they will get the power from the drl during the day and then at night i can turn them on/off as fogs like normal operation. Not sure if this is gonna work though....
DRL's
Last month I turned my 06's fog lights into DRL's. It was a very simple task. Now as soon as i turn the car on the fog lights come on and when I turn the parking lights or head lights on the DRL's turn off and the fog lights work as normal operation. Here is the web site; http://www.daytime-running-lights.co...ight_DRLs.html
I bought the DRL-2007 FLX. At 85 dollars it was worth a try and I am very pleased with it.
