Fog lights for 2006 TL
Hi everyone, new Ontario, Canada guy here. Not a real car guy, but like cars etc.
I have a 2006 Acura TL, white, 6 spd, and would like to add Fog lights, so it looks like the 2007 and 2008 models. Is this possible? Probably have to use the "bottom black grill inserts" from an 07 or 08, and than add the fog lights?
Also, if this is possible, where can I source a nice looking pair of lights. Thanks to all you real car people who reply with how to information.

There is a lot of good info on adding lower grille fogs there, as well as many other things.
Congrats on the ride---post pics so we can all admire it.

zee,
i'm in oakville, i'm going to attempt to do the lower fogs.. i live in the boonies and when it's dark and raining (like it's been happening lately) it's hard to see..
from what i gathered so far, there is going to be a lot of detailed dremal work and a lot of trial and error. you don't have to modify your bumper but you have to modify your lower grill inserts.
this is the material list i've gathered from research so far:
04-06 accord sedan fogs from ebay ( $60-$100 cdn)
07 TL lower grill inserts (haven't gotten a quote yet from an acura dealer in ontario yet but it should be $30 each side so that's $60)
07 TL lower grill insert dark grey trim (i have an AM 05 TL Base AT, i think it's 20 bucks per side so $40)
the 07 lower grill inserts will not fit due to the 07's bumper lower grill is wider than the 04-06.. so i'll need to cut out the fog light holder out of the lower grill.
the accord fogs do not line up so they will need to be shaved to fit into lower grill area and fabricated into place with the lower grill piece..
i'm still deciding what i want to do about the wiring.. i always drive with my lights on so i might as well have the fogs on with the lights on.
i will probably do this in the next few weeks once i order all the parts

Trix, so its possible to use the 07 trim on an 06 by just cutting out the hole where the fog lights would be?
Regarding the wiring, you could tap them off your parking lights so that way when you turn off your lights it'll also turn off the fogs.
This link might be able to offer some help on how to wire them

Hi there, I'm in London area, keep in touch on how it goes with your project, as we are trying to do the same thing. Thanks for info to date.

I mounted CarrieLynn's fogs for her on Sunday, there was a lot of trimming to do with a dremel to get them perfect, but it wasn't hard by any means. I just used a couple L brackets and some self tapping screws to mount them to the bumper.
As far as the 07-08 grills goes....we attempted to use them, but came to the conclusion that once they were cut to fit with the Accord fogs, that they were going to look shitty. So we used the 04-06 grills, and the silver trim from the 07-08 grills which fit like a glove with no modification. The install ended up looking like OE.

I actually got my accord fogs from ebay...came with the harness and some crappy switch, so I ordered the OEM one from Honda today. I actually took everything out to get familiarized with the harness and hardware of the fogs and started planning what goes where and came up with one small problem. I know everything is pretty much plug and play from and to the harness. Meaning the harness itself comes in 2 pieces, one that connects to actual fogs in the engine bay and the other inside in the car that goes from the switch to the harness in the engine bay. This might be a stupid question but how does the harness get power? I mean everything connect together and I just don't see where it would connect for power unless you have to splice an connect it to the main battery.

Thought this might help some people out. This is how I mounted Steve (6spdtl-s) and Carrie's (Carrielynn) fog lights........
This is a picture of the pass side fog light. First of all I removed all of the mounting brackets that are used to install the fogs on the Accord. I used one medium sized L bracket and drilled one hole between the two pre-drilled holes on both legs of the L bracket. The L bracket is screwed (using the screws that held the accord bracket on) into the fog light through the middle hole I drilled into it and into the top mounting hole where the Accord bracket was once attached to the back of the fog light.
The L bracket is then screwed into that little lip on the top of the air dam using a self tapping sheet metal screw. Be careful not to attach the L bracket too close to the front of the bumper because you'll be able to see the screw when it comes through.
I then toe screwed (kinda like toe nailing but with a screw) the foglight housing to the bottom of the air dam using another self tapping screw.

you know what came across my mind while I was bored at a meeting today?
On eBay they sell those silver chrome trims
as such:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/2007-...ayphotohosting
Now for 10.00 i dont think its that bad but, here's the reason.
I'm thinking you can line them up against your lower grill [04-06yrs]
to get a more precise cut of insert to properly mount the fog light.
Since its already cut for the 07 fogs this may give us a bit of a guide on how much
to cut.
,...this is the stuff i think of while at work..lol

Thank you for the concern. My housing is metal and the lens is made of glass. If i can put the 35W then i dont think it will get that hot.
