Flooring 08 TL"PLEASE HELP"

Okay i was flooring the car doing peelouts with some water on the ground. Is it bad to floor the car pushing the peddle all the way to the ground. And why does the tl slow down by its self. Or it just downshifting automatically.

Well, that might explain the "slowing down by itself."

Just kidding OP.

Read your Owners Manual regarding Traction Control and Vehicle Stability Assist (VSA).

You might also look at "Shifting" for shift point, Grade Logic Control and max down shift speeds.

OP: VSA means the Vehicle Stability Assist (which incorporates traction control). Its function is to minimize loss of stability and traction, which is what occurs when you do a burnout. The VSA integrates various vehicle systems to maximize traction when it senses a loss of said traction.

Turn off the VSA if you are doing burnouts in a safe, clear environment. Then turn on the VSA when you stop doing burnouts. If you turn the ignition off, the VSA will automatically reactivate once the ignition is turned on again.
If you're doing burnouts in a parking lot with traffic or somewhere near other cars/people/buildings, stop doing them and go somewhere else.

oh wow, im glad your car still run after you did that, hope those water did not get into the electricity stuff like the alternator/ distributor or the battery. Btw have you ever own a car before? stuff like FAN/radiator cools the car down not a bucket of water.

I love kids like you who have nice luxury sport cars and treat it like a mustang or camero. Why don't you ask your mommy or daddy why the car they bought you has problems when you are peeling out. If you are too dumb to realize your vsa is on or what it's purpose is, then you should give it back to the dealer and get something you can really tear up.

Noooo....i'm sure it's fine. Engines get hot and thirsty after they've been working hard trying to keep their brilliant owners entertained. They need a nice drink after each hard workout. A nice coating of oil on the front tires helps with the burnouts too. good luck!

Looking at this knobs other posts, I think he is actually as stupid as he appears.

Next time your engine gets hot like that, take off the air filter cover and pour the water in there, it will cool it down much better. It works best if you have some one rev the shit out of it while you're doing it.

if you have a cold air intake what u need to do is submerge it in a bucket of water..then start your car. it kinda acts like a straw to drink the water. i found that it really helped the performance of my car! just imagine! your cars performance increase with cold air...it can be WAY faster with cold water!!!! way more dense goodluck with that !

I have a feeling this thread is gonna be locked in the near future. A stupid question gets a stupid answer. Why cant kids like this start out with a civic or better yet a yugo. Poor all the water you want into any hole of the engine and take it to the dealer and expect them to fix it under warranty. Mommy and Daddy, what do I do now??? Buy me a 335i mommy. I wonder how people get by in life sometimes. When you aren't paying for it, it's easy to fuck it up and not care.

Sheesh. This is why the driving age should be 18. However, at your age I wasn't doing anything or wanted to do anything like that. You could cause some serious damage to you, other's property or a person. Please be careful.

First off, it says 20 in your profile. Ok, now to answer your orignal questions, flooring the PEDAL does put more stress on the motor, but not enough to damage it. You mentioned power being cut off, that is the VSA system trying to keep traction for the tires so you move and don't do burnouts. Also you did it on wet roads so it isn't bad, but if you do it on a dry road, it can cost you quite a bit in the event you snap an axle.

LOL +1

For anyone reading this don't put cold water on hot metal, leave your hood up if your concerned about engine temps. Hes right about the oil, maybe after you put some cold water on your engine the tires will self lubricate themselves ^^
