Flnx anti-tint scratch kit: Quick question. Need help ASAP!

I'm currently installing the anti-scratch kit. Seems obvious but just so I don't screw it up I want to be sure that the moleskin goes on only the top part of the lower most wiper. It doesn't pinch over the top of the edge or anything right? Given its width is exactly that of the blade itself I assume it just goes on the top of the wiper? Help!! My car is torn apart currently. Thanks

I placed mine so that it exactly covered the width of the lower wiper blade. I did not fold it over the top...no scratches to date...

Hope this helps!

I remember our windows' rubber having two wiper blades, do you mean the felt only needs cover one blades instead of two? This means the lower blade is the key to scratch the tints?

Thanks.

It goes right on top of the lower wiper blade on the side that touches the window. It is the same size (1/2") and applies directly and flat with no bending over the edges. It needs to be trimmed at the end- the pointy end- to match the wiper length. I cut mine at an angle to match the wiper's.

Make sure you clean the wiper with alcohol and then let it dry before putting on the moleskin. It can have a silicone lube on it which will prevent the moleskin from sticking well. After it's on, pinch it firmly up and down the full length. It'll stay put.

Good luck!

Thanks for the help. Thankfully I did it right. Unfortunately my driver's window is already scratched prior to putting it on but I'll get the delearship to fix it. (They installed my tint).

What's the deal with FLNX??? I paid him a week ago for the mole skin kit and he has not replied to my e-mails or PM's to let me know he shipped it out or that he even received my payment. I may have to file a paypal chargeback If i don;t hear from him by Monday. I'm getting frustrated. is this guy reputable?

I bought mine about 2 weeks ago and got it within 1 week of order. Yes I believe its okay. Installed the kit yesterday. The thing is I think he sends them out in batches. So if he just sent a batch you may have to wait a little longer. He emailed me and said my order came in 1 day before he sent the batch.

I had the same exact problems with this guy as well. Wrote him several emails and then he called me names for being persistant about wanting my kit. He said the original package he shipped me was lost. I finally did get my kit but not without going through some hassle.

I'm in the same boat as others in this thread. He does not return my emails? No confirmation of shipment or payment receipt!
Maybe he’s on vacation spending all the money he’s made from this shit. If his policy is to only ship in batches it should be stated on his site. He definitely needs to work on his customer service skills.
I noticed some of his advertising posts on this site have been removed.

Hey everyone,

There may be some light at the end of the tunnel since i see that I am not the only one with the problem. I received an e-mail from him today telling me that he will be shipping it out today as well via Priority mail and I will receive a tracking # shortly. He said he was traveling. I will update you all when I receive more info. It's good to hear from him but I agree that it's not the way you run a business when you are dealing with cusatomers where word of mouth go VERY far, especially on this site.

I would like to apologize to Flnx for my earlier comments in this thread. I was in a bad mood this morning when I made my post.

Hello all,

Yes, I am on vacation. My fiancee and I took almost a week to travel by car "the TL"
to Northern Michigan to be married. We finally arrived yesterday tired but happy.

I am sorry about the lack of support in regards to the Mole Skin kit's.

Because of demand I have ordered the kit's in bulk and will pre-make and pack them.
I am just finishing up on 30 kit's. This way, all I have to do it slap a label on the box AND PRIORITY MAIL IT out to you the next day.

Once again, sorry for the delay in the kit's. I make no excuses, but things should be running smoothly from now on.

Expect less than 5 days from order to delivery at your door from now on.

I am now a paying advertiser on AcuraTL.com.

Thanks again and wish me luck with the marriage! Yiiiipeee!!!

GTFISH,

I was going to leave your comment alone but it really bothered me.

I had sent your order out within a day of payment and the post office lost it. After I found out what had happened I refunded your money and send your another kit free of charge. I apologized for the inconvenience to you and your TL's tint

Why did you leave this out of your post?

I am trying my best to help out my fellow TL'ers. I make less then $20 a kit. I didn't set out to hurt anyone.

Congrats on the marriage. I appreciate receiving my tint kit and don't mind that you make a little money on each one. It saves us the trouble. I just wish I had bought it before my tint on my driver's door was scratched. Anyway, I tried to reassure everyone that you were good for it. So once they recieve their kits, they will believe. One suggestion for people that aren't mechanically minded though (I'm not mechanically minded either). You might want to make it perfectly clear that the moleskin goes on the bottom of the blade when it is in the position of your picture where your thumb is on it. Obviously this is the side which comes into contact with the glass but based on your picture I can see how someone rushing through it might mess it up.

Hope ya'll have a great TL new life and thanks for your help.

Why did it bother you? Yes you did refund my money. That was your choice and had no bearing on my comments. I only wanted my kit and after several unreturned emails, I called you out on it and then you continued to call me rude among other things for wanting what I paid for.

Does this moleskin need to be done for all tint jobs? I dont understand because some people have this problem andothers dont....what is the reason for this?? I've had my tints for 4 months and have had no problems! Seems a little odd..

dopetl04: i remember you gave me the information for edison tint shop on rt 1. i also recall that he did a nice job on your car for a decent price. i was planning on going there so i called the guy up and he said he started to notice some tints getting scratched. nothing major, but noticeable to the driver.

Yes they do a great job! Did you get yours done there yet?? Its actually not there fault about the scratch. I do know a person who also got there TL done there. 1 month later has a scratch on his passenger side. They are actually replacing his for free as a one time deal.....I did get it done there about 3.5 months ago and have no problems....dont see why one should come up now though....I could be wrong though...not sure what I should do....if I should get the moleskin anyway....hmmmm

Thanks so much for the compliment. I revised the instructions to help make them more clear regarding where to place the mole skin. I even took some more pictures.

I funny because I probably make about $12 a kit after supplies. It's worth it though. This is a fun thing to do on the side.

Now that I make all my kit's ahead of time and not to order, it makes it much easier to just slap on a stamp and ship. I should have done this from the beginning. I guess you live and learn.

It takes about an hour for four doors.

It is not difficult. The instructions are very detailed with photos. You need to be able to turn a phillips head screw driver and know "left is loosie, right is tight".

Yes, it involves taking off the door panels. But, it's easy to do and not traumatic either to you or the car.

I agree with Xpidtor on the time it takes and the ease of installation. Also I didn't notice any problems with my tints for a couple of months but sure enough the scratches showed up. Hope that helps.

I would venture to say that if you live in places with warmer, drier, sunnier and/or sandier environments (like AZ,FL, TX or CA), chances are you have a 100% need for moleskin/felt.

Where did you get your Pinnacle? Are you happy with the15%? Did you do the moleskin before or after tint?

Did your tinter know anything about moleskin?

Just wanted to let everyone know...

Order the kit from flnsx without reservation. I ordered the kit, received the instructions and moleskin as promised. The instructions are great, pictures are included, and the detailed write-up is dead-on.

I did not roll down my tinted windows until I received the kit. I now roll them down all the time. I have zero scratches and roll down my windows without fear of ruining an expensive tint job.

flnsx - keep up the great work and congrats on the marriage!

everyone eles - give the guy a break! He got married. That eats up a lot of time. this is not his primary business. He does this to help out fellow TLers. If this were Acura I could see why you would complain, but this is a guy spending his time to help you out because he is an enthusiast and contributing member of the TL community. Oh yeah, he makes a few dollars on the side for his time...and I was happy to pay for the service...

I got the Pinnacle from a Formula One Tint shop in Venice, FL. I ended up driving an hour away from my house to get it done because this was the only place I could find that would put dark Pinnacle tint on the front windows. I love the 15% but my wife thinks its a little to dark.
Overall I would say that this tint is definitely better in hot sunny places like FL. It's amazing how much cooler the inside of my car is now after sitting in the sun all day.
I installed the moleskin about 2 weeks after my tint was installed. The tint installer said he had heard of some people using felt on the window blades (to prevent scratches) but he told me he does not stock or install it.

I have scratches on my dealer install tint- now what?

I got the dealership to install my tint free of charge when I bought the car and I have pretty noticable scratches on at least 3 of the 4 windows (Dallas, TX). Question: Do I go back to the dealership and expect them to install the moleskin (if they know what that is) and re-do the tint or buy and install the moleskin myself and have the dealership re-do the tint. Do dealerships know of this problem.

Thats exactly my question! DO dealers and Acura know about this problem of aftermarket tint getting scratched by whatever window wiper in the doors???? I would think Acura would fix this problem, especially if dealers are putting on the tint for customers and then coming back with scratched up tint.......

I'm going to be taking mine back to the dealership to have them redo the tint. I have appiled the anti-scratch kit now though so that it won't happen again. The way I figure it since the car scratched itself and was a result of nothing I did, they should replace the tint.

Sometimes the dealer has convenient blinders on. The son of the Internet Manager at my dealership had his windows tinted on his TL and they got scratched. The service manager at the same dealership said that it had nothing to do with them - that it was subjected to adverse conditions .

So the young man had the dealership re-do the tinting. He returned to the dealer after three days. He asked the service manager to be the first one to put the windows down and up with the new tint. The SM did and the film scratched on the FIRST use.

Needless to say, they re-did the scratched tint and put moleskin on this time.

Just one story in the big city.
