First thing to do to your TL?
So i have a TL-S, 07. white.
Just wondering what everyone else did as the first mod to their car?
Wheels?
Body Kit?
Engine Mods?
Sounds?
Suspension?
let me know, just curious.

thanks for the replies guys. I was just curious that is all.
i already tinted the car.
I had a sound system in my 04 TL prior to this car, decided to not touch the sounds on the new ride for a while. Just seems that when they put the car back together it didnt seem the same. Noises etc. Panels not aligned....
My only hold up is....should i get the wheels before the kit? im leaning wheels since the kits will be readily available, and the wheels i want might go out of production. Thanks again, interested to see what others have to say!!

When I got my TL, I already had the tints and the Aspec Body kit...the first thing that I did was get an CAI...and MAN that was a good choice. Then I got the headlights cleared and changed the the interior lights to LED's.
I would next like to get the suspension done and add the racing pedels w/ the door stills. I think that would make the apparence custom and improve on the overall rides performance.
But like the other guys, it's really what you want to do...Are you looking for show or performance??

Yea, I was gonna say tints too.
It all depends on what you like and feel you need to do. If want to change the look then go with the kit, wheels, drop (also performance mod), clear lights, or try and do a grill. If you think the TL is missing something performance wise (which I don't see how you could considering it is a Type-S and you just moved up from an 04 base TL) get an intake, pulley, spacers, or exhaust.
Like I said, it just all depends on what you want to do and what you think will make it look/perform better.

i think i want to handle the looks first. I want to get an a-spec kit. or maybe a mugen lip. but i have heard the mugen lips are hard to find. Im already looking at Volks, but without the car being dropped or having a kit i am wondering how it would really look. This is what i am leaning towards...
Wheels -Volk progressive spoke, Me or the GT-S (i want to go check them out in person firsT)
Kit - A-spec (unless i come across some other alternatives, but i like that mugen lip!)
Suspension - I am open to ideas here, i was thinking Tien Basics, but some people have complained about them on the board, so the feedback has been making me second guess it to maybe H&R or i heard tanabe makes something nice for the TL. i would have to see.
Exhaust - Comptech i have heard good things about, i saw a Red TL with Greddys in the area that look HOT though.

Get Tein SS instead of Basics. I think the people were probably complaining about the Basics being too stiff, but you can adjust the damper of the SS, you can have a smooth or stiff ride.
I agree with you on the A-Spec kit. I used to like the RonJon, but the A-Spec kit just looks a lot classier.

I wish I got the Clearbra at the same time i did my tints. Idiots in NY don't know how to park. Really effed my rear bumper up.

thanks for the reply guys. i think i will go for the wheels, then a kit, then suspension.
I dont want to change the ride to much, a little stiffer on turns would be nice, but i also like the luxury feel to it.
oh so manyt hings to do, so little time!

Tires!!!! Most important mods if you want to live longer and still enjoy your new car. If you're planning on changin the wheels you need to ask yourself wich size you need and then go get your tires.
Tires will save your life, tint wont!
My mods: (so far)
Nexen n7000 tires 235/45ZR17 mod and snow
Paint job for hood and bumper (100 000km/60 000miles)
Clearbra hood + side
Paint the mags gunmetal black
CarPC with 7" touch Screen
*Already had the a-Spec + tint + spoiler

The first thing I had done AFTER I took my car home was blacking/clearing my headlights.
The first things that were done to my car however, were done before I took it home:
Wind deflector
Decklid spoiler
Chrome OEM wheels (put on from previous TL-S, so I have new OEM's in storage)
A-spec bodykit
AS floor mats
Paint Protection package

Tein SS w/EDFC
Liq Graph Inspyres or Raven Black
Tires to match
That's about another 3K easy right there...damn! That hurts just looking at those numbers...see what I mean?

Dark : i know what you mean bro. I am interested in the Tien w/EDFC and looking at what i want to do as a whole, just makes me want to cry. haha. I dont even want to think about suspension right now, i got a whole other topic in the suspension forums about Tien Vs H&R. The only thing making me think about the tien is some people have had neg feedback on noises and such while driving. i remember i had bilstiens on my old rally car back in the day, and it was a rough ride with noise, i dont want to compromise the luxury feel of the car too much and make it ride like a go cart haha. here is the thread in the suspension forum...
Tien vs H&R discussion
Brettallica: thanks! one of the main reasons i wanted to grab the wheels first is that i wanted to get that purchase out of the way since its one of the bigger ones. plus you cant really go to a party without having nice shoes! I am looking at some volks. i love the GT-S and the GT-C's, maybe event the progressive spoke and TE, but i am leaning more towards the GT-S's and i want to be on the safe side since i know volk pulls productions of the wheels plus they have a long wait time. You think black gloss GT-S's would look good on a WDP type S?
Trance - i know what your saying bro. i remember when i slammed rims on my old civic back in the day and couldnt lower it for a few months after.....that looks horrible cuz the stock ride height was like 8 fingers lol. i put up w/ that for a bit...i just dont see the stock ride height of the type - s being that bad.....maybe it will look weird with he 19's tho huh?
Thanks for the replies guys, i will be sure to update with pics as i do the changes.
