First Service Questions....
Hey all...
Just had my A1 light go on at almost 6200 miles....oil still at 15 percent too. Wow. Told the guy I felt damn guilty for not changing it at 3000, and he said that the engine does it's own test and to go by it. I guess this makes sense, but it doesn't make me feel any less weird about it.
Sooooo, I'm also getting my dreaded rattles removed. (In theory...) Steering wheel rattle and B-pillars (by shoulder/head) on both sides should be ok when I pick it up. Interesting call I got from them was that the steering wheel rattle was from a clip on the airbag that was broken. They said this was actually occuring fairly regularly. Anyone else have this problem? They're getting me a whole new airbag I guess as well. (Was the car unsafe before....hmmmm?)
The B-pillars are being re-lined with a felt to stop some plastic from touching and causing that click/pop that occurs as you pass over, say, wet spaghetti. Thank god. That was the one that was killing me. The service rep at Joe Rizza Acura in Orland has been really good at keeping me up to date on their work.
Here's another question. I have a nail in my tire (sidewall, of course) and I'm getting a replacement. Do I need to get 2? I'm not going to swap out for 4 newbies (Maybe Pilot A/S in the future) yet, so can I get by with just one new tire at about 6000 miles?
They ran out of loaners so they picked up a rental for me from Enterprise -- 2005 Altima. In the end, WOW DO I MISS MY TL!!! Amazing how much difference there is between the quality and interior noise levels between the two. I know there's an 8-10 grand difference between them, but geeez.
Sorry to be so long winded. Look forward to hearing how things have gone for all of you.

I'm glad your rattle repair experience was good. On my first service I asked that the driver visor mirror rattle be fixed. They said they did but it's still there. They also didn't fix the headliner drop problem that I had. I don't think they were taking the problems seriously. Any ideas on how to get the dealer to pay better attention to these problems?
That would tick me off....
One of the things that I've stated plainly is that I will not accept the car back until the situation is resolved.
As I said earlier, I am now in a rental on their dime since they were out of loaners, and plan on going for a ride with a tech once they say things are done to ensure they're to my satisfaction. I'm not being a primadonna, but just making sure that I'm not getting hosed. Provided that these guys have developed some level of competency at Joe Rizza in the service departement, I'm sure they can transfer stuff they've done in other cars to this one and eliminate the common pops and crackles I'm getting. Based on our conversations, this seems to be the case.
I will say that once this statement was established and understood, everyone has been on the same page. Don't accept lackadzical service ever. We all paid over 30k for this car. To coin a phrase, "For one who gets so much, much is expected..."

You can probably get by with just one new tire. I am no expert, but I am pretty sure that if your tread life is fairly equal to a new tire, then you should not have any problems.
Since you are not planning on keeping the tires forever anyway, have you looked into just getting it repaired?

My treadwear isn't that bad at all, surprisingly, and that's why I think I can get away with just a single. I found an Empire Tire that will mount, balance, etc. my EL for $150...wayyyyyy cheaper than the $240 that Acura quoted me. ($240 for a single tire...ugh.)
Ebay isn't a bad idea...haven't tried it for auto stuff before just cuz of the shipping and gunk. Always bought small stuff on it before. Anyone else used it for things like tires in the past? IF so, to what levels of success / satisfaction?
