First Road trip question
Picked up the brand new '05 TL today from the dealership. Very excited.
May be a stupid question but I'll throw it out there. I've been told that with any new car it is not recommended you drive it at high speeds, like 60mph+ until after you've put about 1,000 or so miles on it, that you should give it a chance to get "broken in" at lower speeds.
This sounds crazy but figured I would throw it out there before we head out on to the highway this weekend for a road trip.
Thoughts?

First, before you go anywhere.......RTFM
Not much info, be gentle for first 500 miles, easy on gas and brakes.
I was in your position last weekend. Did a 400 mile roundtrip on Saturday. Just after the 500, I had a nice quick, short run up to 100MPH.
BTW - Welcome, hope you enjoy it and yours is as good as mine.

Bigger thing is to try and move the RPMs aroudn a bit .. don't just sit on cruise at 65 ... Even if your on the highway mix up 4th and 5th (or 6th if a MT) to keep the RPMs moving.

One on the right for me
Whats also important is to buy a bumper guard or bra or something for use on road trips. I didnt pick one up before i drove down to LA (400miles each way) and on the way down there some shit flew off a pickup truck and started bouncing on the 5. i couldnt get out of the way in time and it scuffed up the d/s part of the bumper, no big deal, but then a god damn box comes off the truck and puts a huge ass crack on the passenger side of the bumper. While having a bra might not have stopped the box from impaling the bumper, it might have reduced the damage. hey, at least its not the sheetmetal, but still....its ugly with the damage.
this doesnt really have anything to do with your original post, but its just some advice.
