First race in my TL-S

My first blower race in my TL-S, I was at the stop light and a Lexus GS430 was next to me, it wasn't this gen GS, it was the last gen, anyway we took off and I smoked him!

according to official test times 0-60, the TL-S and GS 430 are rated both at about 5.8 seconds. the gs is about 190 pounds heavier than the TL-S w/ manual tranny and 74 pounds heavier than the auto TL-S

That's correct, the new GS430's acceleration is rated at 5.8 sec in 0-60, which is about the same as the Standard TL 6spd MT. The official number is 5.9 sec but the best time done is at 5.8 sec. It doesn't matter the GS driver pushed it or not. It's not enough to beat the TL MT. The TL Type-S 6MT will hand out ass though.

It wasn't the new GS it was the one they had out before now but, still was a good test, also I'm not sure if his had Nav which also adds weight.

I think the TLS is quicker then that, there hasn't been enough testing yet only road and track had thoses numbers and the car was hardly broken in look at how many 0-60 the lexus IS has, its either 4.9 or 5.1 then its 5.4 blah blah blah ya got to just figure its around 5 flat cuz most say 5.1 and 4.9, only like 2 said higher. so when they have more tests on the TLS then I figure we will have an idea of how quick it is.

0-60, the V6 bird is not that fast, its just GM's 3.8 V6 which has been used in many of there cars over the years. Congrats on your TL hope you enjoy it....I miss my old one the 05 =( I hope it found a good home.

When are you bozos going to learn ? When you actually "kill" someone for real ????

I will say it again, as I have said in every excessive speed thread I have seen, if you want to wrap yourself around a pole, that's your business. When you put other innocent lives in danger you are totally F'ed up.

Go to a track or a drag strip if you need to prove you have hair on your chest. At least the only lives you will endanger are your own.

You are probably the same people that drop a burning cigarette butt on the ground when you pull up to a gas pump.

You may think I am being a pill, but I have read too many stories about innocent people that have lost their lives because a couple of idiots were "drag racing" on a public road or highway.

Use a little common sense please and keep the roads and highways safe for all of us.

If I wanted a slow car I would of purchased a TSX, I didn't get a TL-S so that could drive it like an old lady, it was just a small race, it's not like we got up to 100, and its not like I take someone on every chance I get either.

amen... not to mention most races are just based off of start off speed because the distance to the next set of stop lights arent that far away... unless your on the freeway or something.

I must not be able to read, but I see no mention of excessive speed by the OP.

Is street racing illegal? Yes. Are there people out there that street race and regularly do so at excessive, dangerous speeds? Yes. Besides being illegal, is agressive acceleration up to the speed limit dangerous? No.

I agree with you. A lot of people here think the TL-S is slow cuz "ONE" magazine tested it and got similar times to the 04-06 A-Spec TL 6 MT.

What's the big hold up? How come C&D and other magazines still haven't tested the new TL-S in more details? I really want to see more numbers so that like you guys have said, we can get a better idea of how fast the TL-S is.

As a matter of "fact", that one mag test made the TL-S to be only marginally quicker than the Accord V6 6MT. I am fairly certain real world times would yield a greater margin of victory.

I have seen a magazine (I think it was C&D) that got 14.2 in a TL 6MT, so I definitely expect the TL-S 6MT to be at least as fast.
