I am not positive, but I believe the Real Time Traffic data comes in through the XM service (which you get a 3 month free service just like now).

Neither Navi map data nor XM radio service is available in Hawaii...

Actually, the RL Navi does have map data for Hawaii, but none of the other cars (including the RDX) do... Perhaps Acura (or Alpine) thinks that in Hawaii we only walk or ride canoes?

Does anyone know the answer to the following questions?

-Will the new key fob be interchangeable with ours? (04-06)

-Can we upgrade to get the real time traffic? (simple disc swap, or more?)

key fob is not interchangeable

im not too sure about the nav but i highly doubt it. you will need to get some type of receiver to get the signal to come back to the car. nav should be different or else we would have already had access to the RL disk and done it that way. it will probably cost a lot.

Doubtful if the key fob is interchangeable. Look at the pic of the key. You would have to modify it in a process similar to this link from the TSX forums.

Well, yea I remember the vw' guys had a thread on how to modify the switchblades...because the newer vw's have the switchblades and there was a how-to make your old vw keys work with it, but the site is down. I'd love to have those keyes!

I'm interested in hearing any comments from other folks who have driven the TLS. Specifically comments on if the suspension is stiffer than the base TL.

Thanks

^^ I bet they put the Apsec suspension on the TL-S. I just had it installed on my 06, big difference.

could we just get a blank key and have Acura cut it to match our current key. The service guy at my local dealership made it seem like we could do that. Maybe I was confused when he was telling me?

Don't think so... the key blanks are totally different. Ours are machined, the new ones are 2 sided milled.

Everything looks amazing except for those wheels. Uggg. Too small and too large of a gap between fender and tire.

Does it really matter if the display reads CD text? If I am listening to a CD I would already know who the artist is. Afterall, I am the ont that put it in the disc changer. The car needs an RDS display so we know what songs are currently playing on radio stations.

6 CD's x 14 tracks per cd = at least 84 tracks.
I'd like to see some track info.

^^^ I'm with Twiggy, I know what CD I put in and what songs are on it. Radio song title and artist would be great as they often don't tell you who or what is playing.

the key is a laser cut one like on audi/bmw/mercedes/etc....

You would have to change the ignition cylinder and any lock clinders on the car like the drivers door.

I would definitely consider turning a few tricks for that. I hate this board. Everytime I come on here I regret not getting Navi, and A-Spec. Thankfully it seems purchasing this car may assuage my previous mistakes. Now where is my little black book.......

DITTO! Those are the worst wheels I've seen on any car of this caliber in a long time.

I think the standard wheels that will come on regular '07 TL's look 100x better. I'd be willing to bet that if you made it contingent on the sale, the dealer would swap wheels off of a standard TL for you. Not like they wouldn't find someone to buy it.

I actually stopped by a local dealer today to check out the one they had on the show room floor.., I definitely think the wheels look much better in person. I wasnt too impressed with the photo's I have seen online, but have since changed my mind...to each his own.

I think that key can work, as long as you can program it, which I dont see why not, you can just swap out the inner key part and chip with the old piece and you're set.

But I wouldnt try to change too many things to make the 04-06 models look like the type s, it just wouldnt be worth it........I would just trade it in for the real thing, maybe a year after they are out.

They added a lot of nice features and options, they should have added AWD as well.....probably next time around.

They couldn't put the Sh-awd system becasue it would go into the RL market. If so you could buy a TL-S with almost the same HP (as RL) for $10,000 cheaper

I LOVE that key!

That car is beautiful. I just HATE those new Type S rims. First thing I'd do is slap on some A-Spec rims or some RonJon's...

Not to clutter up the thread, but there seems to be a lot of discussion about the key...

My S2k has a laser cut key as well. Do you think I'd be able to by the switchblade Acura key and then have it reprogrammed to work with the immobilizer on an AP2 S2000? Cutting the key blank itself should be no problem since both are laser cut.

I'd like to see some track info.
Also, when you make your own compilations, you can't remember all track titles/artists and the order you've placed them in.

Thanks for the info dampfnudel

It actually looks pretty good from that scan. Nothing about DVD-Audio menus/track display though.

Who's gonna be the first to slap the led side mirrors onto their TL? But i think it's an overkill with the current sidemarkers on the car already. 18s on the Type-S would be a better idea since the regular version has 17s.
