Talking Finally Verizon Bluetooth!

For all you good loyal Verizon customers who have waited and waited, you're wait is now over. (It it looks like it was worth it too!)

MOTOROLA V710

I don't have Verizon, but with it's service and coverage reputation, and now this phone, I might have to switch.

In three years, I bet they'll be free!

I wonder if I can rip out the camera with a small screwdriver? None of the businesses that I can work at (all in the high-tech industry) will allow cell phones with built-in cameras on the property. This is getting more limiting as time goes on.

I wonder how many people actually use their cell-phone cameras frequently during calls? This "feature" always struck me more as a marketing item rather than a useful feature. I would rather that the phone companies spend their research dollars improving the voice recognition technology.

Angry

Don't hold your breath....

Since this phone just got approved by the FCC, it still has to undergo testing. From what I've read, that can take many months. Someone said the latest LG camera phone took 11 months, so no telling how long it will take for this phone. I'm still waiting for AT&T to offer the V600, but from what I've seen they still don't have it out, although it was supposed to be out today from the latest I've heard.

Wish I could stay with Verizon, but I don't think I can wait that long.

Verizon is quoting summer of this year for phone availabilty. Do a search on this group for copies of recent emails received from VZW support about this.

On my way out of Rallye Acura today I overheard a salesman telling some clients Verizon was expected to be Bluetooth compatible this summer.

Unfortunately, one can't trust all things the salesmen say.

Bluetooth aside, I hate the direction that cell phone design is going. They are catering to the teenage crowd with camera phones and text messaging. I have a five year old Motorola Startac and love it. It doesn't take pictures, surf the web, walkie talkie, text message or sing special songs when it rings. It simply is really easy to use as a telephone. Also, it's old style monochrome display is not a power hog so battery life is great. I was shopping at the local Sprint PCS Store for a replacement phone last summer for a family member who only cares to use a cell phone as-a-phone and was amazed at the limited selection for this form factor. One business article I read very recently speculates that in the not too distant future you won't be able to buy a simple cell phone.

why would they cater to someone who buys a new phone every 3+ years?
