Finally! Something Worse Mentioning...WRX

I havent really ran up against anyone for about 2 years now. I have a 2004 6MT with AEM CAI and custom exhaust set up. There was a WRX weaving in and out of traffic from behind me and he got in my left lane. This is a lane that merges at the light we were coming too. Light was about to turn green and I heard him lay on the gas. I dumped the clutch at green, he had me in first gear (heard the turbo spooling like crazy) but I shifted hard in to second and had him by the end of second gear, with plenty of room for the merge. We were neck and neck till 2nd gear came towards 6000rpm. He was a little embarrased I think. He stayed behind me and would not pass me on the highway. I was impressed with the TL.

Is this a normal run for me and a WRX? He looked stock.

Subaru Imprezza RS2.5 does NOT have turbo. The Imprezza WRX and STi both contain Turbo. That's the whole point of them being so popular, OEM turbo AWD...

Is it normal? Yes. Depending on how good the driver is and what kind of transmission (AT vs MT). WRX has 227~230hp and they can launch pretty good. If he had been a great driver, he would have beaten you pretty bad off the line and you'll have to catch up.

Here is a clip of a powerful Cobra racing against a step up EVO; sister of the STi and gets eaten up.

Your 6MT TL has alot of power, but the driver of the WRX was terrible hence you won pretty good.

Nice kill by the way

Better off beating nice looking cars rather than these:

now those, are what you call true embarrassments to loose to.

You should easily be able to take the stock WRX but the STi is a completely different monster. Like previously stated he will get you on the launch but you will be able to reel him in and take him.

The new WRX has a 2.5L Turbo. LINK The 02-05 models have a 2.0L motor. All STi models have a 300hp 2.5L motor.

I know I would have no shot against the STI. It just surprised me that such a bigger car can take out the awd turbo! He did get a great jump (assuming from the awd) but that was it...couldnt contain it through the power band.

I love smoking STI's and EVO's in my 5AT TL. I do it all day.

However, A-Spec does nothing to aid acceleration.

i know i think we were both joking (i was however...lol).. however according to C&D and many other resources you'd be wrong.. the TL 6spd vs. TL 6spd with A-spec suspension...

had like 14.3 vs 14.25 .... something like .05 faster quartermile for the one w/ a-spec suspension (don't quote me on these numbers... but its similar to this)

This post was from last year. That was when my TL was supercharged with nitrous. I ran a best of 13.12. Yea I did beat alot of them at the track.
Now I smoke them almost everytime with my Mustang.

That's cuz ur 6'4" and 270lbs. The impreza is a compact car and you're not the average sized person. I've seen 6ft guys driving the car fine.
