Hey everyone! I've been using AZ for quite some time for DIYs/ideas. I finally decided to make an account. I figured I'd make some posts so I can finally get full access to the forums. Anyway... I have some big plans for the car before summer of 2020. You'll find the list down below. But here's a little bit about me and the TL:
ME:
Location: Pittsburgh, PA
Occupation: Mechanical Engineer
Age: 25
IG: @TLipino_UA6 (follow if you'd like)
CAR: Basics:
Make: Acura
Model: TL Base
Year: 2004
Color: Anthracite Metallic
Mods:
Full A-spec lip kit
06-07 sti lip
Generic-Universal side splitters
Accord foglights
Lowered on Tein SA coilovers (2" drop maybe? I forgot)
So I think I'm just gonna keep posting my progress on here. It's been a few weeks and I've tried to do as much as I could given the time that I have after work. Here's what been done/what's in progress:
1. I finally got the full exhaust installed (those rear pre cats were a PAIN to take out). It sounds great, a little raspy in the high RPMs but I kinda like it
2. I bought a donor 07 Base ECU to be used with Hondata in the near future. I got it from a salvage yard for $40. I'll just need to bridge a connection in order to keep cruise control in my car.
3. After installing my exhaust I had to cut up the bumper/rear aspec lip in order for the quad tips to fit. I didn't like how it looked at all. A few days later, I came across a picture on Instagram of an Infiniti with an awesome looking rear diffuser. I decided I want a similar setup, so I bought some supplies and got to cutting. See pictures below.
This is the rear diffuser that I saw on IG I already had most of this section cut out for the quad tips so I figured... what the heck. I plastic welded with ABS scraps from 3D printing supports/failed prints. I then applied epoxy on the outside and inside of where I plastic welded for good measure. Lastly I'm in the process of smoothing things out with bondo. I'm hoping that it doesn't crack on me... I bought some foam boards from Home Depot and cut and glued together the "bones" of the rear diffuser. I used spray foam to fill in the corners for when I want to add radii.
Nice ride bro! Looking forward to getting the SC kit as well soon. And nice color TL, lol...

Thanks guys!
I finished the rear aspec lip and scrapped the original foam sculpting because I didnt like how it looked. I made a new one that fits up a little better...
Little lower under exhaust, and bring it out to the edge of the lip or so, but looks pretty good.
Yeah I agree. I was in kind of a rush today so I just taped it up to see where I was with fitment. I've had the aspec lip of the car all week so the new foam sculpt was all free handed and guestimated.
But for sure we need to meet up soon. I just picked up Flashpro off of another SC'd TL owner in Florida he's parting out his build.
Alright... so I finally got some time to work on the diffuser this weekend. She's almost ready for fiberglass.
A few things:
1. I can't decide if I want fins on the sides of the rear a-spec lip...
2. I definitely think a duckbill spoiler will compliment this diffuser.
3. Styrofoam dust is extremely annoying to clean up. (Wife was not happy)
See pics below and let me know what you guys think.
