Finally got my Anthracite 6 MT
After waiting 7 weeks for my Anthracite TL, I picked it up on Friday. Other than the odd clutch engagement when shifting out of 1st gear, it is terrific. It is very stiff and solid. I have no rattles or squeeks of any kind. I think that the late build date (26/07/04) allowed for some tweaking to the manufacturing process to ensure proper fit and finish.
I like the colour more now than I did in photos I saw. I will keep it stock as I actually prefer the staock body shape to the A-Spec trim. I will of course need winter tires and wheels. I wonder if anyone has had any problems finding steel wheels that fit over the Brembo calipers?

Congrats on your car. Excellent choice.
In a couple of weeks the clutch will be more natural. The only problem I have now is when someone else drives my car and isn't used to the clutch.

I have also been wondering how to get winter tires on this car. I heard somewhere that we could go to a 16" but not smaller. I thought the 16" would be better protection against trashing the wheels on the pot holes. May be also cheaper for the tires and wheels. I have not found tires or steel wheels. May have to spend $1000 on "cheap" alloy wheels. Tire Rack still does not have any winter tires for 235/45/17 yet. Let me know if you find something.

Steel Wheels for Winter Tires on 2004 TL
I too would prefer to put 16" steel wheels on my TL for use with winter tires. Here in Toronto, there is snow plowing but no snow removal. Winter tires are therefore essential. It is sometimes comical to watch people in rear drive BMW's try and navigate hills with summer performance tires. I planned on using steel wheels as I thought they would be cheaper and impervious to salt corrosion. It may very well be that I too have to look for "cheap" aluminium wheels to fit my winter tires. I will have to get my winter rubber no later than the beginning of November so I'll post the solution I ultimately find for this issue
