Finally bought my TL :) (04 AT NBP w/ NAV)
Ahhh what a sigh of relief.
Dealership wanted $17,000 for this 2004 w/ 82,000 KMs (roughly ~50,000 miles) and I ended up paying $14,000 and I got them to fix a few dings on the door, replace the TL logo on the back right (it was in an accident in 2005 that saw it replace the trunk lid, back right exterior and repaint. ie: gonna be hard to resell down the road) do my tranny flush, oil change, airfilter, and replace battery (actual sale is pending safety inspection)
NBP with tan interior, nav (cha-ching!) and no mods done to it... yet
They informed me a few options I have with regards to warranties, rust-proof, interior/exterior options.
SO, here I am asking your opinions.
The car does not come Acura Certified. Warranties would be as follows:
Comprehensive
1 yr: $1,405
2 yr: $2,180
3 yr: $2,830
4 yr: $3,900
Personally, I don't feel like I need a warranty. From what you all say, it seems like I'd regret buying it. Then again, if two thing go wrong, it's already worth it. Anyway, I'd love to hear your thoughts!
Next, they talked to me about the rustproofing chip and a few other options.
Electromagnetic Corrosion Protection ($599)
It's transferrable to whatever car I buy next. Anyone own this, any thoughts on it?
And a few packages ...
Xzilon Exterior Paint Protection ($499)
Eliminates the need to wax your vehicle. Shields your paint finish against damage from road salt, bird droppings, tree sap, oxidization and fading.
Interior protection ($299)
For fabric/leather & carpets w/ rip, tear & burn coverage (10 years)
If you got with all of them you save $368, comes to $1029. If you go with bottom two it comes to $499 (interior protection free, essentially)
Aaaaaany thoughts comments are more than welcome. I'd love to hear about your experiences, especially since I need to make my mind up about these things in the next week or so
Thanks everybody.

congratz on the car ... i would say dont worry about the warranty, put that money in a savings account and if you ever need it, then pay for car repairs instead of getting a warranty that you may never use
about all the other things ... they all sounds like scams for the dealer to make money, i would pass on all of them

Both me and Consumer Reports would advise against the warranty. If the maintenance history is good and the dealer is doing all those things, you should be fine.
All that other is just that. They are just too boost the dealers profit. They are unneeded and if you can do them yourself much cheaper.
