Fender damage
Claim hit and run with your insurance carrier. Most plans only have a $200 deductible since it falls under the uninsured motorist section of your coverage. Best part is, your covered, even if you only have liability coverage.

I always do the same! Lol I was the only car in that spot. But when I came out there was a car next to mine. It didn't seem to be that car tho...
Right that would be the cheaper alternative but will never be the same... How did yours come out?

as you can see, studying it you can tell it's not perfect. however, to the untrained eye, it looks great and very passable!!!!!!!!!!!

honestly, your damage doesn't look all that bad. I wouldn't go unnecessarily cutting up the body for that. Rewelding new metal, etc, always opens you up to being more susceptible to rust. Rust is the devil.
I'd first go see if a Paintless Dent Repair person can pull that out. If not, a reputable bodyshop should be able to have an easy go at that.

and my shop didnt have it easy.

they took a sledge hammer to my fender for like 3 days straight.
But yours was right on that rounded part of the fender. I could see that being incredibly hard to fix. His is just the flat part of the panel.
Never hurts to ask
If not, I'd then go see a couple body shops and see what they have to say. We are all just speculating. I HIGHLY doubt the panel has to be cut out though. My body guy has fixed much worse than that without replacing metal. Body guys have some amazing talents for fixing up cars.

Guy at work a month and a half ago got rear ended and the dent looked similar. Body shop fixed it under insurance and they didn't need to replace any part of the side panel, just the bumper. Arguably not a TL but a Yaris, but the point remains.
This. There is only so much PDR can do, and fixing this quarter is not one of them. They'll bang it out from the inside as best they can and then top coat it and spray it.
It's like they do it on purpose.

Sucks you have to pay $900 for it, but at the same time, that's not all that bad. When it comes to body work, anything under $1000 is on the cheap side, at least north of the border.
Maybe you answered it already, but why won't you go through insurance? I'm 99% positive a hit and run wouldn't raise your premium. Some insurance companies won't even charge you the deductible for a hit and run.
