Feeler: ATLP CF CSL-Style Trunk

Hey guys,

With less and less companies making new products I've been asked by a few members (quiet persistently) to make a FULL Carbon Fiber CSL trunk replacement. To be honest, this is something I always wanted on my car just because it flows so well with the already given lines of the car, but I just never liked the look of what was out at the moment because I didn't want an add-on piece and would rather pay a little more for a replacement without having to mold anything on the trunk.

Here is a picture of it on a 335.

Here is a similar csl add on lip on a TL. BUT keep in mind, this is going to be..more aggressive. And sexier. Much sexier. This is NOT how it will look like, just to give you an idea.

Anyway, here is the breakdown. I know it's going to be a bit of a limited part, as not everyone's going to like the style, but those that do..they got their head in the right place.

It would be 100% Bolt on.
Grade A Carbon Fiber.
Would allow you to retain your stock license plate surround. (I think it's cheesy when the CF deletes the OE garnish)
It would have to be one size as far as the chrome/brushed brow above the license plate goes since the TL and TL-S are slightly different. We can decide on either but it has to stick one size.
It would be lighter.

Pricing would be around $700.
At least 20 people with a required deposit.
*This may be a limited run depending on how the batch goes.

Please only add your name to the list if your serious.

Do you have any mock-ups yet Mike?

I'm going to think about this for a bit before I put myself on the list...

Not yet, once this thread generates some real interest, then we will go ahead with the initial part. For the most part though, most people that will want this already know how it's going to look. They just want it made.

You've got a point there.
I'm most interested in how the license plate garnish will be executed.
At the moment I'm like 75/25 on this... Would need a CF hood to compliment the trunk at least.

Don't have the money at the moment, but very interested in this and depending on time frame, may be able to do this. Put me down, as I have been waiting for some time for someone to do this. And thank you for taking it on!!

To give you a rough idea, when we do decide that the project is a go ahead we would collect a $250 deposit. Then it will take at least a month to a month and a half for the CF to be laid, and ready. So remainder payment won't be due for almost 2 months thereafter.

Would need a CF hood to compliment the trunk at least.
CF hood is cake compared to a CSL trunk.

Did not put that into account... Hmn....

Hahah true say.
With the wait time of the CSL trunk I'd probably be able to source out a CF hood in that mean time...

Alright Mike. You won me over =D

This would be great....just combine it with a rear diffuser for the 04-06 A-spec rear lip and you have one mean looking rear end, all thanks to mike! Think about it atleast

Damn this is nice!! I love the look of a molded in trunk lip. I know this would defeat the purpose of having the look of CF but how hard would it be to paint it?

Gotten from BMW E46 M3 CSL, the CSL M3 was the first one to offer the molded trunk lip spoiler shown below from factory hence the name CSL Lip.

I think its a complete trunk replacement and isnt just the spoiler alone, you need not worry about holes as you'll be taking your OEM trunk off and installing this one; after swapping over all the components such as license plate holder, trunk latch etc.

Mike is making a complete CF CSL trunk which replaces your current trunk.
Therefore you don't need to take off the Type-S Spoiler... or replace that spoiler for that matter.
Basically.. Imagine KB1spec's CSL spoiler molded onto a trunk... that is [in a sense] already molded for you... and made of complete CF.

Xclusv, thanks for the pics. They will definitely help the members who are trying to picture the trunk.

And lookin' at your pics again, I realized you have rear tail light "lower eyebrows." They actually look pretty nice. (That one thread, everyone was bashing the OP for having "brows" on his rear tails).

Also, where in Jersey are you? North, Central, South? I never see your car when i'm on the road.
