Feedback please, on back up sensors
Did a search on "back up sensors" and found some but not many comments. If you have had experience with this item please comment as to:
1. Necessary?
2. Worth $600 plus installation? What was your total?
3. How does it work (beeps louder or faster as you close in)?
4. Any problems (false alarms or didn't alarm when it should have)?
5. Maintenance, what do you do to keep working well. Cleaning necessary?
6. Best to get Acura OEM or are others as good?
Thanks for the info!!

Re: Feedback please, on back up sensors
First of all, I don't have the sensor, but I did ask the same questions to one of our members installing this very early. Jss1 said: "the side and rear sensors have different sounds, the rear 2 are low frequency and the side 2 are high frequency. Both operate independently so you can tell if your getting close on the side, back, or in between.
There is nothing that distinguishes between left and right but since the side ones operate at a much closer range (under 2 feet) it should be easy to see."
I'm having another car with the backup sensor here, it's working flawlessly, I wish my 04TL should have it also. However, IMO, I really don't like the big holes in my back bumper. Acura should work out better design or style in the future, lots of other car makers do the better jobs to cover these holes.
As I said above, since I don't have it installed, I'm thinking of the rear-view camera instead. It could be the option. (you could check weeeg's case)... http://www.acura-tl.com/forums/showt...threadid=67879

Worth every cent imo and a small price to pay to avoid hitting anything which would cost way more than the actual sensors most likely.
I don't mind the small holes at all.

They work great!
I had the backup sensors installed on my NBP. Prior to installing them I would routinely be stopping 6 feet from an obstruction behind me thinking I was about to hit it! The sensors work great and in a few minutes working with them you can accurately judge your distances. As far as their appearance?....call me not so anal....but what is the big deal about that? The technology and peace of mind you gain by having that assitance in backing up FAR outweighs 4 neat, small round holes in your rear bumper. This car NEEDS the backup sensors...otherwise you will be painting that bumper soon...trust me!
