Feedback needed on Type S decklid lip spoiler

Hey guys,

I know that a couple of you have purchased a Type S decklid lip spoiler and attached it to your trunk with 3M tape.

I was just wondering, for those that have had it on for a while, how well it's still sticking to the trunk. Any problems with it coming loose, or water seeping in?

I just wanted to make sure that it sticks well with just the 3M and no drilling before I decide to purchase it and stick it on.

Thanks.

The tape is good for only so long before it starts peeling off. I am getting mine installed by a body shop using the screws.

double sided tape is unreliable and anyone who tells you otherwise hasn't had their spoiler lift or is full of shit

i used the screws, cowls, and all the plastic pieces, WITH double sided tape

it's not going anywhere.

the question is: do you have the gonads it takes to push a drill bit into your trunk? 7 times?

That's part of the problem...I don't...LOL

Plus I'm not completely sold on the idea of having the lip spoiler...it's funny how sometimes when I see it on another TL I think it looks hot...but then sometimes I like the smooth flowing lines of the car without the lip spoiler.

I was hoping I could tape it on then if I get sick of it I could take it off.

I think I'll keep the car as is for now.

Take your dick in hand and hold on tight. Dealer installed the decklid on my brand new TL. They fucked it up. Drilled the holes in the wrong spots. Decklid was off by about 1 inch. Not far enough back. They said it could be adjusted, and yea, boy did they ever adjust it. They drilled new holes. And I only found out because I took the trunklid liner out and looked.

Dealer had to order a new decklid for my car, paint it and install the new wing instead of the decklid spoiler. The acura decklid spoiler sux. Even when installed correctly it looks like crap. Not sure why I even considered one in the first place.

I felt thesame way at first. But after the lip was on, man I love it. I felt the same way when i had my base ligths retrofit to Type S. At first you kind of hesitate of making the change, but once its done, you will love it.

I am going with screws, as brian said, you want to do it once so do it right rather than going back and forth between tape and then screws.

My suggestion to OP would be to use tape at first, if you like the look of it on you car then switch to screws .

Enigmaos, I might use the #M window weld for my roof spoiler since people who have had the roof spoiler are having issues with the tape that comes with the spoiler.

I may be placing my order soon and once it gets here I'll have the body shop prep it good and use the 3M tape. I still with that I could some how screw it on rather than just using tape.
