Talking favorite passes?

I'm looking for some good driving roads, senic views, switch back roads, awesome passes...

what are you favorite drives?

Sunday afternoon on Northern California's Highway 1 from Pacifica southbound to Monterey is a favorite of mine.

-where your from?

-where are your personal courses/roadways that keep the trany and steering wheel from resting?

everyone loves to drive their TL so let us know what places are worth a drive...

Very cool thread! Perhaps someone knows of such a pass in/near the Chicago area...I've looked and never found anything but short runs through some nice roads, but nothing that equals or even comes close the California coast roads.

ever try just looking through your navigation? that's what i've been doing lately... searching my area for the best curves the transportation authorities can throw at me... i've also been talking to a lot of street bikers who go out on the weekends in search of such passes. hope this helps you out?

even a short burst can be enough to make the problems melt away with every shift...

i love the drive up to seattle and passing through Oregon. It's always a nice drive, especially in the fall before the rain gets too heavy... i haven't done it in my TL yet but i have twice in my prelude and once in my pilot...

i hear Oregon only has 2 highway patrols on duty at any given moment... you know what that means?... it means you can mash that peddle all day baby! enjoy your drive, can't wait to see some pics of your road ways...

US 68 between Lexington and Harrodsburg Kentucky. Twisties downhill to the Kentucky River, then back up hill out of the river valley. Probably 10 - 15 miles of mixed medium and low speed runs.

Not only fun, but scenic and there are a few passing zones to get past the slow pokes.

Blue Ridge Parkway...very scenic.

Any random road/highway in rural NC/SC...the bumpkins that made some of these roads must've had too much moonshine when they made them ...nice and curvy with the occasional straight with passing zones for some wide-open fun .

Highway 198 in and out of Sequoia National Park.

East of Chowchilla in the Sierra Foothills - Rd 603 to Raymond Rd to Coarsegold.

The road between Raymond and Mariposa.

The Sierra Foothills are loaded with awesome drives.

I take the TL Type S or the Corvette Z06 and have a blast all the time.

Bearcat, that shit sounds F*ing fun as Hell... reminds me of a few roads out here.

Chill_dog those roads you talk about must have been built by racers, i'll have to check that out on my navi when i get home.

Swobro, i've been hearing about that course your refering too (I think), some of my biker friends take those roads, i'll have to go out with them sometime in my car.

Highway 2 in southern CA from Wrightwood to Glendale. It goes over the San Gabriel Mountains. Around 60 miles of awesome twisties, no side streets, and great scenery to boot. There's even a place in the middle of nowhere halfway through to eat.

In the bay area, from Cupertino to SF, on HWY 280, pretty wide lanes, not many hiden spots where cops can hide. I push to 100 easy.

Hwy 1 is def. more scenic & twisty, but I can go that fast. Different feelings ...

so far i've asked
-the drifters
-the hogs
-the crotch rockets
-the imports
-the doms
-the truckers

etcetera, etcetera...
seems theres never an end to a california road... tons of back roads that always lead back to a major freeway or main street, it's like they were intended for real drivers... too bad the cops don't know that... or maybe they do...

all this driving talk about some awesome roads... some things to always acknowledge on your drive...

-drive safely (but spirited)
-wear your F*ing seat belt (lets stop dying out there damn it)
-you are only as good as the people surounding you (take a lesson from bikers)
-know the limits of your car and only push it to that point and not further (don't die trying)
-last but not least... enjoy the ride

thanks you guys, i will be checking out these places and doing my own personal write up's in the rambling section of this site called: "A-U4IC-DRIVE" take a look soon.
