fail inspection because of aftermarket tints?
fail inspection because of aftermarket tints?
can you fail inspection because your aftermarket tints are too dark? or is it something that cops just give tickets for? for example if your state had a tint law of 35% and you did 20% could you fail inspection?
and how much leeway is there for the tints? aftermarket 35% tints + factory come to 32% i think from the tint sticky thread? that would be pretty lame to fail inspection cus your tints were 3 % under

I've never heard of this before. It is possible, I suppose.
I know that I've never been tested for it in Arizona, and people have tint everywhere.
My thoughts are that if they don't require that you bring the doctor's prescription slip with you to the inspection (which should be mentioned on the inpection renewal notice), you won't be tested.

Yes, it is certainly possible to fail your vehicle inspection due to improper/illegal window tinting, but it really depends on your state. I failed inspection once because of this and had to have the tint stripped off before I could reregister my car, because I couldn't get an inspection certificate (which was required at registration) until I did. If I remember right, this was in Hawaii (I've lived in many states, and can't remember for sure which one it was at the moment), but it could just as easily happen in your state depending on the inspection/registration laws.
If I go to DMV for inspection, my car will fail, too, due to NY states require us to have 70% or above tints in the front. I mean "lighter".
I never go to DMV for inspection thought.

Sure solution!
Move to Florida. We don't have car inspections. Did away with them years ago.
Florida: the Sunshine State and personal liberty is respected. Police here have meters they can use but usually don't. We allow 28% on front sides and 15% on rear and rear sides with a 3% fudge factor. But they can't measure the rear window because the meter has to straddle the glass.

In New York, New Jersey, and California failure due to tints can happen.
In Georgia there are no vehicle inspections (like Florida) but you can get a ticket for too high a tint (but it's very rare).

Of course you can fail inspection. I mean that IS the point, isn't it? Tinting too dark is not LEGAL. I have heard that many (if not all) get around this by simply going to an inspection station that is "receommended", hint, hint, wink, wink, nudge, nudge by your tint guys.
