factory tint on type-s?

I just bought a 2007 type-s and the inside film on the windows looks like aftermarket tint. The owner says he is the original and he never had it done. Do the windows have tint on them from the factory that is attached inside the car?

Automatically most car windows are tinted at 85% tint. But if you're referring to a black type of tint and there's an actual film on the windows then no, it does not come from the factory like that.

This seems like a film on the inside of the window, which I hope is true because the tint is scratched and needs replacement

Mine has the "factory tint" option. Definately a film and I'm pretty sure it's a dealer installed option. For what it's worth, the people that did my side windows said it's one step lighter than limo. I bought the car brand new. Mine's scratched too from the windows rolling up and down.

Crack open the window a little and look at the glass edge on the inside. If you have aftermarket tint you will see a definite edge of the film there.

It's a film on the inside for sure. Thanks everyone!

Very true. My "factory tint" was a $300 option. When I got the side windows done recently the shop said they would do the same thing for $180.
