F`ing Chip!

I have a chip about 3/16"-1/4" in size on the front of my fender right over the headlight on my 2 month old Alabaster Silver 06 TL. Should I just touch up the chip with touch up paint? Or should I consider having it fixed by a shop.

Just touch it up. I had a chip on my left fender, WDP, after the touch up I can no longer see the chip unless I get 3 ft from the fender. After you touch it up, I suggest you take a look at a clear bra product. After I repaired the chip on my car I used the ClearMask Clear Bra product over my entire front end. I installed it myself and cost me about $600.

I got a chip in my door from a door ding yesterday. I used some touch-up paint to fill in the chip but the surface isn't smooth. What's the best cheap way to do it? I imagine you have a similar thing w/ your chip.

Check out their product. I've used it before and it works well. Just follow directions carefully.

Follow up with clear bra if desired.

I got one... same place, two weeks after taking delivery. Then a couple days later on a clean smooth stretch of highway a golf ball sized rock shoots out from the rear tire of a pick-up. Watched it come towards me and impact my bumper in slow motion while instinctively saying... OOO000oooh SSHhhhiiitt !!!!.

Now the Gods of Chips and Dents are appeased and I can go on happily enjoying my new TL.

Use some touch-up and revel in the knowledge that your dues are paid in full.

Hehehe...

You're already there.

Seriously... Keep filling the chip with touch-up. It will take something like 5-6 applications. Once the paint in the chip is just below the surface of the existing paint then fill with clear until it's flush to just proud of the existing paint. If you want you can carefully wet sand with 600 until it's as smooth as you can get it without going through the factory clear coat. Hit it with some 800 then 1000. After that some poshing compound and wax and your good until the next one.

What can you expect from living in Miami. The streets look like they have craters in them, someone has to scoop up the missing chunks laying around. Happened to me on I-75 in my past car. Thing was it cracked my windshield. Insurance repaired it next day.
