that seems avg from other posts i've read. i didn't get one during the purchase but highly considering it right before 4/50K is up. you can get it then right? i'll be driving an avg of 30K a year w/ my car. only thing holding me back on extended is the reliability i had with all the hondas my family has own/owned

There was a previous thread on this but...

I got 5yr/100k - $1170 from my dealer and I got 0% 18 month financing for it so I didn't have to roll into the car loan.

You can also go here though.

I purchased my ext war from accura of mission viejo 2 months after purchase for $1170. My dealer wanted $3200 at first, then down to $2400 and still wouldn't budge even after I told them about this.

After market warranties, often from the same company the dealer sells, go for about $800 for a 7/75,000 with a $50 deductable. Dealer charges about $1400 for same. Difference is extra profit.

Make sure whatever you get covers your electronics like Navi.

I just bought the exact same coverage today in Tacoma Washington. I also paid the same price. So I guess you could say we both feel better now.

The Acura Warranty can be purchased anytime prior to the standard warranty ending, if I need it I will get it just prior to 50K or 4 yrs.

The extended warranty is useless until then so why let the hold your money for that long ?

bnandreu,

That's a pretty sweet deal...both the price of the warranty contract and the 0/18 financing. Where did you get that financing from?

This is just out of curiosity on my part as I already have the warranty, but it's rolled into my loan.

Thanks

Yep I jumped on it because of the 0/18 financing.

I got it from Sterling Acura in Austin, TX. I'll be purchasing my wife's extended warranty for her RSX-S there too.

It's being directly billed to my credit card, Discover, so I get a cash back bonus on it too.

If you haven't gone past the first 60 days you can cancel it and buy it from Sterling. Just a thought.

Because the longer you wait, the more it costs. That's how they get you. If you compare prices between a brand new car off the lot and one that is 3 years old at 45,000 miles you'll see the same warranty coverage costs a few hundred dollars more for the older car. They do it to encourage you to buy it early so they can have your money for a few years before they need it, earning interest.

I second this.

You definitely have to pay more to get EW after the certain amount of days from your original registration date of the vehicle.

Maybe you could think about this way, since American Honda Finance Corp. allows you to pay $25 processing fee to cancel your EW right before 60 days from the effective date of EW. And, you could get the full refund.

If you decide not to use this EW, what you lose is the interest for those money plus $25.

If you decide to get EW after 3 yrs 11 month or 49,950 miles, what you have to pay is the new rate of EW plus $100 (probably) surcharge.

Either ways are good, as long as you're happy with it.
