Is an extended warranty necessary?

Is an extended warranty necessary?
Guys,
I bought my 2005 TL a few weeks ago from a small dealership. I bought it with 108 k miles on it. However, I took it to the Acura dealership for a comprehensive inspection. They checked, according to their report, almost everything. What they found that required immediate attention were the brake and transmission fluids. They needed to be flushed soon. The place took care of the 105k maintenance.
The car has been nothing but smooth. But the place has offered me a two-year extended warranty for $1300. I have about two weeks to make up my mind whether or not I should buy it. $1300 is extremely high, but car trouble is sometimes insidious. That's my dilemma. I'm hoping you guys can help me resolve this. Your comments will mean a lot to me. Thank you.

all i'm going to say is READ the FINE PRINT on whatever warranty they offer. also, i would only stick with the acura care warranty. most 3rd party companies will stiff you and not cover anything that actually needs replacing.
my advice? keep your $1300 and just put some money aside in a savings account just in case something does go wrong down the line.
i did get a warranty with my car, and it has came in handy twice in the 2 years i've owned it...but i still haven't gotten the full use out of it and i doubt i will. these cars are pretty bulletproof.

Buy yourself the Acura service manual, multimeter, a HDS and a set of ratchets and you'll be able to fix pretty much anything on the car yourself.
The two times i've actually tried to use Acura Care the dealership would always try to weasel around it and ended up being a huge hassle.
