Extended Warranty

Has anyone purchased an extended warranty from Acura on a 2005 TL. They offered it to me for $1095 to extend the warranty to six years or 100,000 miles with a $100 deductible. I dirve about 17k miles per year.

Is this a good deal or purely profit for the dealer?

I thought it was to 7 years. Anyway, I understand that you can purchase the extension any time while still covered under the primary warrenty.

NEVER get an extended warranty with a deductible. think about it, that's $100 everytime you visit the service department. you can buy extended warranty at anytime before the factory warranty expires, like mjb said above.

don't get it just yet.

Also make sure they're giving you the ACURA warranty. My dealer did not tell me it was some other company that was going to provide the warranty service after the TLC from Acura was over. They used AON and charged a little over $1600 for a 7 year 100k plan. No deductable. I am still waiting for a response for a refund on my warranty.

Whatever you do, do not get any plans that has a deductable usually for only couple hundred more there is no deductable.

Wait until you existing warranty expires. think about it, if they were not going to make any money with this extended warranty, they would not offer it.

I paid 400 dollars for the same warranty when I bought the car. Good deal? Don't know. I'll find out when I get above 50K.

how much does the cost go up by when you are near to the end of the original warranty? If you're quoted $1000 now, what might it be in 4 years?

Remembered this from another thread...not sure of the details, might want to check Curry's website...might be the same warranty, might be a different one, but it's a point of reference, at least...

I didn't buy one because the reason I bought an Acura was to buy a car that's reliable enough that I wouldn't have to worry about such things.

They dont charge you for the warrenty if you don't use it, so thats a plus.
