I'm 44 and don’t' consider myself a ricer, I like carbon hoods (nice ones that is). I would get one for the looks and to be different too. If the hood was lighter that would be a plus. I admit that certain color vehicles, like silver may look better than others colors.

One thing I did notice is that the upper grill piece was not mounted? Does anyone know if you can mount the grill trim to the carbon hood?

So I guess I should stand back and get flamed for having an opinon?

There is no way a carbon fiber hood would be half the weight of the OEM hood especially with the original steel skeleton as said earlier. I am very skeptical. Last time I weighed an OEM hood and a carbon fiber hood, there was a weight difference of 8-10 pounds. hmm...

8-10 lbs? Maybe I should just lose some weight...perhaps that would be an healthier solution than the CF hood.

That was a hood that I weighed from a 6gen Accord V6. I forgot the exact numbers but it was within that range.

Pretty bad hood alignment if you look closely.

I saw this exact style hood (CF) - just the other day - guess we were out walking the rugrat and I pointed it out to my wife. It was not a TL though.

Interesting...

I too like the carbon fiber look, on some colors.......I will probably get one from a reputable company like VIS. One thing about our cars, that I hate, is the wait for quality aftermarket parts. So, you will have people putting out alot of crap. The main reason for this is that our cars are not made in Japan. If they were, we would have the top companies putting out eveything for them. Unfortunately, we will have to wait for our cars to become affordable for the younger tuner crowd before they really start making alot of aftermarket stuff.....ie: body kits, spoilers, exhaust systems, real carbon fiber parts. I personally can't wait for a Greddy exhaust.

Ignorant question

Time for me to ask an ignorant question...

What is that hook sticking out of the front of the bumper in this picture?

Could someone please let me know? I've already been asked about the hole, I didn't know what it was for. Thanks!

It is a tow hook, since the TL is so low if they put the cable under the car it would tear up the bumper. The hook usually resides in the tray inside the spare tire well, and there is a body colored plug that covers the hole when not in use.

Thanks Ron! I guess I figured as much but wondered why there aren't two of them or it's not closer to the middle of the car. But I guess it doesn't matter. Thanks for the info.

Sorry about that. I thought I looked through all the posts and didn't see any that connected, but it looks like I missed that one.

If my OEM hood fit like this I'd be camping on my dealer's showroom floor waiting to get it fixed. Did you notice the uneven gaps on the sides and the height differnces from side to side. YIKES!
