Brought my 04 TL in for an engine rattle concern 2 WEEKS AGO,..just got it back today! Originally it sounded like knocking valves or something. Acura tried replacing my Intake Manifold, but problem wasn't fixed. Turned out to be a loose (improperly crimped) heat shield near the manifold. BTW, only 4000 miles to date. To top it all off, the service department SCRATCHED my fender (DEEP). Has to go to the body shop now for paint ! Man am I pissed !!

 

are you using 91 octane or above?

 

93 actually, but it turned out to have nothing to do with the valves at all (the heat shield was not properly installed at the factory). Oh well, I guess expecting a $35K car to be correct off the assembly line is setting my expectations too high.

 

What's up with these dealer service people scratching cars, etc? I brought in my car for EL42 swap-they scratched my rims about 30 times.

 

Are they fixing the scratched fender AND at least throwing in a few free oil changes or what not? I would ask for that as a minimum, and maybe free 30k service.

 

Sounds like the service guys may be frustrated by the additional work load from having to tend to various issues with the new TL. I guess the days when Acura service guys were looking for work has officially expired.

 

The fender is going to painted at their cost. The $ is not the issue though, I am pissed that my car is needs body work, and it's less than 2 months old !!
