Engine Oil Pump Seal Being Replaced
Hi All:
Did my Power Steering hose replacement yesterday, but was told that the seal on my engine oil pump is going bad and is leaking oil. I knew something was up. Checked my oil just before my last oil change and it was really low.
Anyways, its being covered under warranty (yay acura care).
However, since the dealer needs to get into and remove the timing belt etc., should I just have them replace the timing belt and do the timing belt maintenance including the water pump and pulleys?
I have 92k on the car right now. He hasn't called yet regarding parts and labor for the timing belt/water pump replacement yet.
Thanks in advance!

YES(!!!), assuming they don't charge you the stock labor/hour rate for the timing belt job. Once everything is open, changing the timing belt/tensioners is reported to be pretty straightforward - taking everything off to get there is what adds up the labor hours. Looks like Acura Care is inadvertently hooking you up!

Ok I just got a call back, they are actually going to replace the engine oil pump completely, which is covered. The timing belt and water pump replacement plus the labor for that is $404.61. Yay or nay?

I'm getting an email estimate for all the parts that are going to be included.
I can just get spark plugs and valve clearance checked when I get to 105 later.

You may want to check some of the Timing Belt threads - folks seem to recommend changing the idler pulleys and tensioners as well. My 2005 is at 95k miles too (no Acura Care oil pump coverage), so I am keeping my eyes open...

The dealer is saying that if there is a leak in the tensioner, that Acura Care will cover it. My concern is that they will "find" that the tensioner is ok right now, but later on needs to be replaced.
