Engine cleaning.. any tips?
No pressure washer. Get yourself a bottle of Castrol Super Clean, go to town on the engine, being careful NOT to get any of that stuff on the paint, and then use a regular garden hose with a light to medium spray of water to rinse, again being careful not to get any of the cleaner on your paint.

This is the best guide and from one of the best detailer's in the country. I always wondered how you could get an engine bay so clean and this helped me a great deal.

Another piece of advice is to make sure the engine is cool to the touch, then start it and have the engine running while you do this. Atleast that's what I've always done. And don't put any water directly at any electronics, esp your alternator.

I simply get a bucket with some dawn dish soap, (because it cuts grease), and a rag....Dip rag into soapy water and ring it out, then scrub away in the engine bay. Then use the mist setting on your hose and wash off gingerly. Then I dress it using Chemical Guys fade 2 black.
