Employee price

One of my local dealers recently sent me an email which offered an 'employee discount' to 'select customers'.

Disregarding the select customers comment, does anyone have knowledge of this discount? Invoice + $500 maybe?

Thanks...Randy

Wow, that would be great if it were that cheap.

I asked one of my local dealers about employee pricing and they said that it is so tough for them to get a Navi car because why sell at such a steep discount when customers will walk in and happily pay MSRP?

I seem to be in the minority here in that I'm not looking for a navi. No flames please.

I'm just curious if anyone has been offered this discount and what it might actually be.

according to a few employees i've talked to, they don't get discounts on new cars that are in high demand, like the TL

I heard the price is $1k off invoice, but it's only for their employees, and it's non-Navi. Never heard promotions for limited customers. If so, it's absolutely the good deal.

But, please get the TL with newer VIN(for example, bigger than 10000). The new car seems to have less issues so far.

Some dealers sell their demo with some decent discount, too.

I got a similar letter from a local Chrysler dealer (My wife's ride is a 2001 T&C Van). When I talked to a salesman about it, he said that employees are allowed so many discount sales to "friends" per year. Those that are not used by the end of the year are thrown into a pool and used for incentive purposes, similar to Ford's "A" plan. I can see Chrysler doing it, but Honda's are a different story. I'm sure that the discount wouldn't be much.

Thanks to all that responded. In order to find out what the employee discount is, I have to go in and talk to them since it's super secret and such.

I'm in a generous mood with my time this holiday and will give my dealer about 10 min to get to the point.

For those curious, I'll post my findings.

i think it's all bs, must have a lot of terms and conditions

they don't really need a discount for now, espeically the car is just 2 months old

Employee discount? I would assume its the price the dealership charges their employees.

In which case it is usually a pittance (50 dollars or so) about invoice. Sometimes it is the invoice price. (There is always dealer holdbacks and other things from Acura itself)

In case of the TL, it might be a few hundred over invoice.

If it were the RL you could get 6000 bucks off. Acura is trying to get rid of the things and is doing major discounting.

My friend works in the dealer, they offer $1k off invoice for 04TL non-Navi model. Yes, RL got more discount now.

Happy Holidays.

The dealer has responded to me and given me the price of $2100 off an '04 6mt no-nav. MSN auto's has the base invoice to be $29,755 + $545 = $30,300. An additional $1000 off would seal my decision between this car and the TSX.

rets, I'm not sure how I could use your information to challenge my local dealer. Then again, perhaps employee discounts are dealer specific and not actually an acura perk or your information is based on an '03 model?

Merry Christmas to all.

Randy
