Can anyone with a service manual tell me if there is a seperate (or multiple seperate) power amps for the ELS system? Or, is the power built into the head unit?

 

With a 225 Watt Power supply, I seriously doubt it is in the head unit. I would check under all the seats (a popular spot for audio amplifiers).

 

I believe someone said its in the passenger side foot well (outside corner)

 

Alpine has head units rated at 60W x 4. The RMS rating has a higher THD and less head room than most available external amps, but it is rated at 240W. I'm curious about the ELS for 2 reasons:

1. I'd like to know what the true power specs are.
2. I'd like to know if it's possible to upgrade the power amp(s).

 

From what I remember in the Svc manual, it is in the pass side front kick panel, all channels are built into one unit.
